I recall The Mission recently being screened somewhere and distributed by AGFA (This was promoted on their social media). Since AGFA does work with multiple distributors, I am hoping to see this one sometime soon.

I know this one is super unlikely and definitely not one that Criterion will release but I hope to see The Big Heat (1988) released sometime in the future. I think it's perfect for Vinegar Syndrome's evergrowing list of HK titles (As well as Naked Killer, one of the great Cat III films that hasn't had a physical release since the mid-2000s).

For my money, I'm betting it's either The Mission, PTU, or Mad Detective. They seem the most appropriate ones and 2 of them have already been released by Eureka in the past.

I read this somewhere on this forum or some social media website, but yeah, that sucks. The Mission is one of his best films and still stuck it seems.

Still hope we get more To in the near future. A 4K restoration of the Election films would be amazing.

I posted it in another thread (the Hong Kong films thread, maybe?) (Hell I might have posted it in this thread, my memory sucks...stupid internet.)

Fran Simeoni from Radiance Films was asked about Zabriskie Point (1970) and said it was with another label. Since it's a Warner title, I think it's safe to say Criterion have the rights to it. Next year is the 55th Anniversary of the film as well, so hopefully we get a release sometime then.

My least favorite Antonioni film and I saw it in 35mm on a huge screen in Los Angeles. I thought it was embarrassingly dated and paled next to the rest of his filmography.

But it did make me wonder if John Wayne saw it for the appearance of his longtime friend Paul Fix? I would be very curious to see what the Duke may have thought of it.

Anselm has been digitally upgraded to 4K. I doubt that'll happen physically.

Seriously, what the heck? Criterion's pressing plant still hasn't learned how to put in a slip cover with tearing it? This has happened several times in the past and while Amazon's replacements aren't that hard, it's still a bummer sending it back again from Europe. I may be nitpicking but considering the import costs, I'm a bit more nitpicky...

Looks like something a Sharpie can fix up. I've lost count of how many slipcovers and torn inner sleeves i've performed triage on because of my anal retentiveness. I've actually used Elmer's glue and various colored markers on some of my LE chipboard boxes from Arrow, Indicator, etc. that have showed up with corners ripped and smashed from Amazon. I like the challenge.

It's not even Amazon's fault. It's under the shrinkwrap. And I can understand it may happen once in a while but this has become regular for Criterion. I'd expect better quality control for blurays at 40 msrp and is somewhat of a premium label. And yeah I try to avoid boxes. But with Criterion not even keepcases are safe. I am surprised more people aren't bothered by it.

That's why I started to order most of the Criterion releases I want at a local brick and mortar store. Unfortunately they can only get me British Criterion releases, but those get me always handed over in impeccable condition.

That works well with Barnes & Noble here in the US, especially during the 50% off sales, as long as they don't destroy the packaging with their security devices.

I would love a 4k release but that looks doubtful given this film’s missing in action status. It’s not the best Antonioni, but a very important one historically. The soundtrack is worth the price of admission.

I don't have the same problem with UK releases, those probably get packaged somewhere in Europe. This is why I try to wait and get UK releases when possible. Plus I have no local stores, I'm mostly stuck with Amazon for various reasons.

Must be the difference between anal-retentiveness and full out OCD because I would probably drive myself crazy knowing I had homemade repaired Blu packaging like that on my shelves!

I definitely get that! That being said, you would have to inspect mine very, very closely to even notice that they were ever repaired. My copy of the Arrow LE Crimson Peak 4k showed up with the two exposed corners that hold the booklet and swag completely ripped along the seam. If I handed it to you right now I would wager you couldn't tell me they were even damaged to begin with. I'm pretty happy with that
