I'm guessing for sure one of the titles will be one of the Kino MGM titles, but lets hope for some more new to HD stuff.
I feel like if we were to get the boxsets, it would've been announced today or possibly tomorrow.

As for the monthly announcements, I'm predicting it to be on a Monday.

Those are usually for the big boxsets. Boxsets with like 3-4 films usually are just announced along with the regular titles. Although I would love a really boxset right now.

A Ishiro Honda non Godzilla boxset is something Criterion really needs to get on already.

Ah if it's a smaller boxset, then yes it would probably be announced with the rest of the monthly releases.

On a different note: I forgot about this but I think there's one title with a very high chance of being announced and that's Alice Wu's Saving Face (2004).

I have mentioned this a few times before but Ms. Wu herself has mentioned this on her Instagram once before and has mentioned its release date being somewhere around June 2025. Makes sense, considering this is a LGBTQ+ title and is perfect for Pride Month. I absolutely love this film and would recommend to everyone.

Funny thing but this would also be the first film in the Criterion Collection to involve Will Smith to some capacity (Producer)

I always thought that Education was the strongest and most affecting of the Small Axe films.

MP calls for enquiry into labelling of black pupils as educationally subnormal.

Utterly shameful.

I wrote a review of the film on Letterboxd after watching it again after its initial broadcast on BBC in 2020.

My Spidey senses are failing me this go-round. With the very stacked July coming up, and I have several titles I think will be in that selection, it's hard to predict what June will hold.

-Possibly P&P
-Possibly something Japanese
-Possibly The Brother From Another Planet, if that one moved faster than we thought it did

Six-ish titles?

Sorry guys, but Criterion's got me stumped this time. I could easily write an opus for July though.

Those, undoubtedly, are in the same situation as everything Toho, Criterion has to wait for Toho to do the masters and OK the release.

I'm thinking announcements will be Monday, but I might as well drop my predictions/hopes/dreams now in case it's tomorrow.

The English Patient 4K
Saving Face (2004)
Four Nights of a Dreamer
Dressed to Kill 4K
Sisters 4K
The Burmese Harp 4K

Probably a coincidence, but I noticed a trend the past two months in a row of Criterion pairing multiple films from the same director. April had Anora, and Prince of Broadway from Sean Baker, and May had Withnail and I, and How To Get Ahead in Advertising from Bruce Robinson. That's partly the reason I've predicted two De Palma films for the month. My batting average lately (or ever, really) has not been good, so I'm probably getting 1 right at best

The director mentioned it was scheduled for August at some festival or screening late last year.

I personally would be ok with the current masters. Doesn't have to be a 4K boxset. Still, maybe now Criterion only wants to release 4K masters for most things?

I think those are definitely something they'd want to release in 4K, as I imagine they'd sell quite well on UHD.

Sure, but I'm sure it would sell quite well on even DVD. HD masters are available why wait? If they are going to wait for Toho to remaster all of these in 4K then could be YEARS before a boxset is possible and some of will probably be dead by then.

Just noticed The Burmese Harp's page now shows the DVD as Out of Print. Previously it was listed as Out of Stock, and then Currently Unavailable.

I think most people would rather they wait, but they probably should just do what they, seemingly, are doing with the Heisei Godzillas and do individual releases when Toho gives them the 4K master.

I'll take that as good news? Not sure why the DVD would be OOP though, as I would imagine they would want to continue to carry the DVD on top of it having a BD and UHD?

Hoping it pairs with Fires on the Plain, but not getting my hopes up. Burmese Harp alone would be great, and would be nice to have one of the special features be the remake which Criterion also has.

As someone who recently had a pretty bad health scare, I say the sooner the better when it comes to these things. Still, it doesn't have to be a boxset and if they release them as they get 4K masters then that would be fine. The War of the Gargantuas and I believe Rodan have 4K masters. I think a couple of others as well.
