Speaking back on Greed, it's definitely one that should have at least gotten a DVD over here in the US at some point. Here's hoping for a Blu Ray.

Also, TCM is airing the restoration of Duel in the Sun. Considering Scorsese and his connection to this movie (which was a Film Foundation project), maybe Criterion could provide us with a physical release for it.

The major issue being that it's with Disney...

I mean if anyone is going to be able to convince Disney to actually let people restore/release their movies, it's probably going to be Criterion. They're the only ones I can imagine that have enough "pull" to make it actually go through.

I believe the few cases of Disney produced movies coming out recently on Criterion is when the filmmakers have had some input in the process, like Andrew Stanton with Wall-E.

I heard years ago that an original film source did not exist. I saw the film back in the 1980's at Jersey City State College (now the New Jersey City University) at a History of Films class that I experienced there. I have always hoped that it would someday make it to blu-ray disc. I know that a DVD exists, but it is in French, which while I studied in high school, challenges me fluently.

Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you!
In 2020 George Feltenstein said in WAC podcasts that "it’s going to take time and we can’t tell you when, but there are good things to look forward to with those three films" (referring to Greed, The Wind, and The Crowd) and also "I do believe that there will be something new to talk about in regard to this motion picture in the future" (referring to Greed). At least that was the thinking in 2020.

Super happy about Isle of Dogs and French Dispatch standalone releases! 4k is great but I'd rather keep all my old individual ones than spend the money (and awkward shelf space) upgrading them just to get the two new flicks lol

Can't believe all 10 will be on 4k. I need to start squirreling away my pennies now for this.

Ha ha, fair enough. Though honestly, since I never got a set of World Books, this might just scratch my itch to set something imposing and classical on my bookshelf.

I'm going to wait until I get the set, but my first thought was that it'd be cool ("cool") to give the whole set its own shelf and mix in some of my old hardcover books that looks science-y. Carl Sagan, geology textbook, etc. Maybe a little miniature globe too, if I can find one that has Zaire or Soviet Union.

And a little coat rack on the side of the shelf for my scarves and ascots. Of course, I'd have to pull some ascots from my Bogdanovich shelving since I only have so many. Hm. Well, plenty of time to figure it out before September.

Praise the Cinema God's. It's wonderful looking set. It's also hella expensive so good for you rich people.

But thank God the last two films in the set are getting solo releases. Here's to the rest showing up after that.

Yes, it's expensive, but, $50 a movie is their MSRP for 4Ks so $500 MSRP for a 10 movie 4K boxset just means they're pricing it the same. No discount for the bundle, not overpricing for a collector's set.
