So if I'm understanding correctly; this has never happened before? i.e., it's the 15th, it's Friday, and it's 3pm Eastern with no releases announced? So if they announce this late in the day, it's unprecedented; and if they wait until Monday, that's also unprecedented?

It’s happened many times.

Nope, Criterion pulls this crap all the time

They have been known to delay the announcement of their titles by a day or two.

They have, in the past, moved from a Friday to a Monday announcement.

Also, in past practice, they have given a courtesy announcement on their Facebook page, though I haven't noticed them doing that recently during a delay.

Have they ever specifically said announcements are on the 15th? They’re not always on the 15th so maybe it’s just implied. Maybe it’s “on or around the middle of the month”

For as long as I can remember yes it’s the 15th unless it falls on a weekend. I that case they have at times announced early, but usually after weekend.

They have many times pushed 15th Friday to following Monday, but they usually like to stick to the 15th.

Historically, it has always been the 15th for announcements. It is a given. However, every few months, announcements get delayed by a day or two, and sometimes, when they fall on a Friday, they get moved to Monday.

Those re-releases are the least interesting announcements to me, not just because I already own the kinos, but also because we know those are coming and it's just a question of when.

Would have been a nice way to end the week, but oh well. Criterion is going Criterion. At least we'll start the week with something.

Damn.

Hate it when I'm locked in for an announcement, and it ends up coming late.

There have been a few instances where it's been delayed a good deal past that, to the point where Criterion had to keep updating on social media, and, well, the world literally melted down

IIRC

They're prepping a box set. Both him and Mia Farrow are there to film an appreciation.
