Others may have more discs.
Image has it, and they've already put it out on blu-ray. It's pretty much garbage.

So final tally of this weeks purchases:

Wings of Desire
8 1/2
Army of Shadows
Gomorrah
Revanche
The Seventh Seal
The Magician
M
Paths of Glory
Cronos

This should satisfy me for about a week

I only post this because I wonder, where do I go from here? Any suggestions?

I have my netflix queued up with all available blu-ray Criterions, but I am unfamiliar with most of them.

But, Lord am I broke now

I saw some screen caps from it on another thread and it looks like its too bright of picture.

Some solid choices there.

My 3 best cc blind buys which I would easily recommend are El Norte, Paris, Texas and Close-Up. 3 amazing films that don't get discussed enough. Close-Up especially is fantastic and deserves to sit up there with the higher regarded cc films.

During the new transfer, the color grading was changed to the overused teal/orange look that's all the rage in digital editing these days. It's not in-your-face, but it's very noticeable. James L Brooks and his editor supervised it, so I guess it's filmmaker's intent, but I wish they had left well enough alone."
The 4K scanning and the color grading was done at Sony Colorworks in Los Angeles - and the director and film editor were involved. I don't know what digital editing the post you've quoted refers to, but Broadcast News looks every bit as impressive as Easy Rider.

I picked up Time Bandits for 6 bucks during the Cyber Monday sale. If you can find it cheap, it's a clear improvement over the DVD. Certainly not a great Blu-Ray by any means, but far from the worst too.

I just received and watched the new Canadian BD of Amelie. I thought it looked pretty good. I saw it on HDNet Movies a few months ago, and it seemed comparable (although w/ better audio) to my memory of that version. I've never seen it theatrically.

Honestly, the way Jeunet plays with the color timing, I have no idea if the BD is a faithful presentation or not.

Joe, Criterion's press release indicated they will be releasing both versions of Carlos!

I've had the miniseries in my Netflix "Saved" queue (release date unknown) for some time, and it now indicates "Coming Soon" to watch instantly. The theatrical cut doesn't indicate this.

I don't know if this is any hint as to what Criterion's release will hold, but it's cool that the full miniseries will be available to watch again even if Criterion only releases the theatrical version.

Finally got "Seven Samurai" from B&N two months and a few days after shipping. Beautiful package.

Yesterday I sat down and watched "House". Great movie. Loved it.

Nice to see the news on Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas from CC, Of course I just bought the Universal blu last month, oh well (I will have 2 copies, actually three since I own and will be keeping my original CC DVD release)

What's the chance of seeing CC blu's of Spratacus, Two-Lane Blacktop, and Brazil???

Thanks for the info!
Can anyone confirm this? Where does DVDbeaver state it?

Thanks in advance for your help! This time I hesitate to go for the Criterion right away...

One thing that really sucks is I kept putting off buying The Third Man...and low and behold, I'll suffer for it. Wish I could find it somewhere for regular price.

One that I'll buy next, for sure: The Seven Samurai

but I'll wait for B&N deal for that one
