I'm saving myself for the 15th......

In related Criterion news (in case they don't report it on their official site for the millions that are probably wondering) I received my March titles from them today...... looking forward to taking the plastic off, and putting them on my shelves in some sort of creative order.

It certainly has an appropriate title if one has seen much of what Hollywood offers these days--

There is a new pic up on Criterion's fb page...it showcases a good number of the May release's proofs.

I'd post it here, but that would be just too lazy of you.

Criterion just posted a video on Facebook featuring Kent Jones about an upcoming title. Some of the key details are that it is an 80s film that deals with what lurks beneath (both literally and metaphorically).

Here is the link...not sure if it will work, what with having to log into facebook and all...

And....apparently it is C.H.U.D.

http://www.criterion.com/films/27656-c-h-u-d

Unless this is some sort of April Fools joke, which would be just cruel, this is pretty exciting. I made a joke about this as a potential title during the poll a few weeks back...I never thought it might be true.

(And I will fully admit to having fallen for it if it is a joke. The fact that it is listed as out of print seems suspicious).

Given the description, it is pretty clearly a joke. Alas...

It's a joke (Costa commentary?) (Ernest goes to Jail?) (Downloadable MP3).

Pretty sad they have good cover art for fake releases.

With its surprisingly gritty depiction of urban life, noirish cinematography by Peter Stein (Ernest Goes to Jail)

And pretty sad given that it would be a great release...

It's more funny that Criterion totally let David Lynch fanboys down on Facebook thinking it was Blue Velvet.

Yeah...the chances of ever getting the rights to Blue Velvet are pretty slim, I would think.

That movie will be fine without Criterion spoon feeding people it anyways. It will most likely get a blu release sooner than later.

There is indeed a Blu of it on the way. I read an interview with Lynch a while back, maybe even on this site, where he stated that a bunch of scenes once thought lost had been restored and would be on the upcoming bluray, although he made no mention of when or from whom. I would like to think enougj time has passed that he could bury his hatchet with criterion and let them handle it. Oh, to dream...

Man, in that "proofs" pic on Facebook, there's totally a C.H.U.D. Proof in there. That's just mean. Heh.

I'd seriously buy C.H.U.D if Criterion put it out.
