Yeah, just noticed that. Looks like I won't be running around nearly as much today as I thought I would be. Save the excursion into the big city until tomorrow. Hope the spare tire holds out today for local errands.

As far as I can tell there hasn't been a DVD release in the US (all the ones on amazon looked suspiciously like bootlegs to me).
There is an official DVD release by Ruscico, with English subtitles.

Did a blind buy on "Still Walking" and "Antichrist" at B&N yesterday for just $17 a piece.

Watched Antichrist immediately when I got home... and I think I'm scarred for life.

LOL I had a discussion with my brother after I watched it and made him watch it. I feel the same way, I am scarred and no matter how hard I scrub - that experience will never leave.

I found the mutilations unnecessary as a whole, but the film was just so haunting and fantastic otherwise. I like it more with each day passing and the color pallette is truly mesmerizing. I intend to watch it again when I purchase it on blu ray; at least this time I'll know when to keep my eyes closed

Antichrist is such an incredible film. I do have to say that ever since I have seen it, whenever I see scissors I think of the cutting scene. Good stuff.

It's weird. The first time I saw Antichrist I didn't think much of it. Just thought it was kinda gross if anything. After a 2nd viewing I started to appreciate/understand it.

I've rented and seen "Street of Shame" and I'll be getting "Sisters of the Gion" for tomorrow. Fortunately, the Mizoguchi Eclipse set has been around for a bit, so it's available for rental on NetFlix.

I'm enjoying Mizoguchi so far, but so far my favorite Japanese director is Ozu and Naruse is number two. By the time I finish renting the rest of the Mizoguchi Eclipse set, Mizoguchi might be number three.

"Apparently Criterion’s Peter Becker considers Abbas Kiarostami’s Certified Copy to be “minor Kiarostami” and they won’t be releasing the film as a home video release."

Yes, and it comes from a Criterion head (if true). I have spilled my opinion on other sites over them calling something "minor" while in the same setting announced the upcoming "minor" Nolan film they are releasing for obvious nothing more than to make money off his name, so I won't keep on it here. We'll see Criterions reply tomorrow and hopefully it's the truth and don't try to go back on this comment.

That's surprising to me...I would have thought they would be all over that film. I haven't seen it yet (one of the perks of living in a pretty small town is that I never get to see good movies in the theater) but everyone I know is raving about it.

I am happy to see the possibility of Errol Morris in the collection, especially The Thin Blue Line, which is arguably one of the most important documentaries in the last few decades.

Yea, I imagine certain stores getting hit harder than others. I didn't even use mine on a CC, though.

I wonder if B&N will ever make their coupons unique, so that each one can only be used once. Not that I want that to happen, but I see a lot of their coupons get distributed all over the internet. I would think that would hurt their sales a tad. Who knows?

Criterion is going to get slammed for those remarks by Becker.

Interesting to see if they cave.

Ironically, they allegedly caved when people made a big stink about no blu release for Everlasting Moments and Close-up. The next day they announced those would hit blu.

With the way the economy is and the major decline in brick and mortar bookstores, any sale for them is likely a positive. You would think they'd make the coupon unique though, or at least if you're a member that it'd show up on your profile.

Also, if I remember correctly, they said that they wouldn't be releasing Antichrist either...... So they kind of have a history of running their mouth and releasing some of these films anyway.

As for Certified Copy, this interview goes against what seemed like an earlier confirmation that it would be in the collection. From IFC's twitter (it is a re-tweet, but it seems unlikely they would put it out there if they weren't fairly certain):

http://twitter.com/#!/IFCFilms/status/15066540755914752

"RT @CriterionCorner: CERTIFIED COPY is being released by @IFCFilms on 3/11/11. this young decade's best film & a future @Criterion classic."

Then there is this as well:
