![]() BTW: Beaver has their review up for White Material and on a side note, the UK region B review of Bicycle Thieves (one of my personal faves) is up. Honestly, it looks like I may be sticking with my CC dvd for now though. Usually when a region B release comes out, mostly likely, a Criterion upgrade follows a year or less later, so fingers crossed. |

It would. And it isn't like a $20 cardboard release hasn't happened before. But with the way they had to quick change it (and no extras), tells me it will be a quick paper sleeve for a plastic case.

Would you believe, as of yesterday, I still had four "open" items from a couple of orders I placed curing the last B&N Criterion sale? I had contacted them twice before to ask why they hadn't been delivered, and just received an automated reply.
This week I tried again and got a reply from a real person - she asked if I could give her the titles of the "books" in the order. I had provided order numbers, but I duly gave the details of the Criterion discs I was waiting on. At this point I was hopeful that they would send them. Then a day later I get a series of emails stating that all items were cancelled from my orders! So they are unable to supply the Antoine Doinel set, Seven Samurai bluray, Shoot the Piano player DVD, etc. Frankly, I don't believe it - they probably don't want to sell them at the discounted prices. I am really considering skipping their next sale, as the service for web orders is crap. Unfortunately I can't walk into a store because I'm on the other side of the world. But I think I'll stick with Amazon. |

And above all, do this in a timely manner. If a sale is on, contact someone before the end of the sale to confirm that you will be charged sale prices. To be honest, I think B&N canceling sale orders due to running out of stock is disgusting--they should keep every sale order open until they can source the stock, and then collect the sale price on the day they ship your order. It's Barnes and Noble's fault that they ran out of stock, not the buyer's fault. Last edited by McCrutchy; 04-08-2011 at 02:58 AM. |

Hello Criterion collectors. I have two questions regarding purchases of Criterion movies from Amazon.
1. If bought directly from Amazon, are these releases guaranteed to be authentic, even if they are out of print? 2. If you buy a disc from a third party that has "fulfillment by Amazon" are you guaranteed an authentic copy? I just want to be sure before I pay the (sometimes very much) higher prices for these third party seller copies. I am willing to pay the extra to make sure I am getting the real deal. ![]() ![]() Thanks to anyone who can help me out with this. ![]() |

Re: fulfillment by Amazon sellers. Absolutely anyone can become a fulfillment by Amazon seller and the seller is responsible for the accurate listing of their items (the only difference being Amazon handles the packing/shipping and customer service). A seller being a fulfillment by Amazon seller means nothing in terms of being any more/less legit than any random third party seller outside any inherent odds that a smaller seller intent on scamming would obviously be less likely to go that route. But, there are a number of fulfillment by Amazon sellers, same as non-fulfillment sellers, that don't bother with accurate condition ratings and descriptions and one never knows the various sources they may use to get their stock. Either way, buyers are always protected if they don't receive the item as listed so you should either get what you pay for or a refund if it isn't. |
