Well it's official, I can no longer watch any British films without seeing actors/actresses and thinking of them in their Harry Potter/Doctor Who roles. I watched Topsy-Turvy last night, and although it was highly enjoyable on its own, it was much more enjoyable with the idea of Wormtail playing the Mikado in the Mikado. It was still a great film, the costumes were beautiful, and Jim Broadbent (who I can see as someone other than Slughorn due to the amount of films I saw him in before HBP) was wonderful as usual.

It's not like the Powell Pressburger Films, those still feel fresh although they are almost 70 years old.
I don't feel I've indulged in a lot of British Working-Class dramas lately, so, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

That's my point, I'm not saying that British Working Class films are bad, there are some very fine movies, and maybe even the recent very good Fish Tank is a working class Movie. Although it felt different, maybe more stylized.
There is nothing against those Movies but it feels like somewhere there where too many of those.

I guess it's good that I haven't seen any Harry Potter films.

I drove the ten miles in traffic, and the BD was not on the shelf. I asked if the disc was still in the back, but it was not. At this point I asked to speak to the store manager, and he told me he was sorry and would be glad to order the BD and ship it to me free of charge.

After standing and waiting @30 min. for them to figure out how to do all this, I final was able to pay. To cap off my joyful shopping experience, the person told me I could not use the $5.00 coupon as it was in store only. My retort was "that's why I called to make sure it was here". I grabbed the coupon and walked out after waisting and hour of my time and five dollars in gas.
Did you look under the "S's" or the "C's" in the BD aisles? Just curious, since we seem to stock our Criterions together under "C." Basically, only the people "in the know" can find them.

That was my guess too. I am sort of surprised though, just because I assumed The Phantom Carriage would be an October title.

October is never filled with horror films. This was always going to be paired with Wild Stawberries and that screams Sept. October still has Island of Lost Souls and Kuroneko for your horror fix. Then I can see the 1st box set this year (hopefully Oshima's Youth Trilogy) on blu in November with maybe Carlos (please get this title over with) in either Oct or Nov. Oh and World on a Wire prob in Nov.

You don't think The Three Colors trilogy will be the box set for November?

I wouldn't be surprised if World on a Wire doesn't come until next year. Wasn't it quite some time between the screenings of Hausu and the Criterion release?

Some releases come soon, some late. Modern Times happened about a month or 2 after Janus started the Chaplin releases I believe. Dillinger is Dead took a year. So it depends. I just think with Janus still doing Godard's Weekend this year (told me by e-mail), Criterion will prob release World on a Wire at the end of this year and Weekend next year.

I just want Rialto to hurry up with Les Carabiniers. They have had that coming soon since last year. I can't wait to have a release of that with some features (and no yellow subtitles like my dvd), being my fav Godard.

That makes sense. I guess we will know soon enough.

Wish Le Samurai would get a Blu release. I think that would nail all the Mellville besides Enfant Terribles (I think)

I really want them to release these on Blu too, along with Carnival of Souls, and Jigoku.

Why always with the french stuff Krzysztof Kieślowski made?
I mean The Decalogue has only been released shabby on DVD and is way better than his frenchy colored trilogy.
That would be a truly nice BOX.
