Yes, NetFlix uses that same shot and I like it too. The drab color scheme is very period appropriate.

It does look very uninteresting right next to The Phantom Carriage though, I can see where people are coming from there.

My Life As A Dog--love that film.
so excited for that on bd.
certainly not a bad month, but I really wanted some other upgrades also.
I guess Criterion isn't ever going to release Picnic at Hanging Rock on bd.
just cannot believe another month's announcements have come and gone without it being announced.
good grief.

There's a fantastic Blu-ray out in the UK (and in Australia as well). Is there any good reason why you don't own it?

Seriously. The retro aesthetic was great on the poster and great here. Don't know what everyone is complaining about, there have been much worse.

Nothing definite for me this month. I'm interested in Carlos, but with the $50 MSRP (as expected) the UK release is so much cheaper I doubt I'll bother with the Criterion unless it's a significant improvement over the Optimum. Might look into The Phantom Carriage though.

It's a digipak? Jesus. Do you have a link to info on the packaging?

Absolutely cannot wait for Phantom Carriage. It's nice to see Criterion releasing their first '20s Blu-ray.

It's listed as two discs (with a list of $49.99) so it'll be some sort of digipak.

Why in the world don't they just have two-disc cases made?

I do own it.
I just can't figure out why Criterion hasn't released it yet.
(I get really frustrated when films that Criterion has the rights to get released in other countries, and then Criterion doesn't release them after like 6 months or so; I just can't help it.
there are so many now--
Hamlet
Henry V
Salo
The Tin Drum
Danton
Late Spring
Rififi
M. Hulot's Holiday
Tokyo Story
Good Morning
Great Expectations
Early Summer
Fanny and Alexander
Eyes Without A Face
La haine
Picnic at Hanging Rock
The Bicycle Thieves
Clean, Shaven
The Burmese Harp
Boudo Saved From Drowning
Brief Encounter

Me too. Already have the UK Carlos; picked up before the CC announcement. I could see myself getting everything but Carlos (and even that if there's something special abt the release other than a spine number), but Phantom Carriage is the only automatic buy out of the bunch.

If it was me, Red Desert. If I was you (looking at your titles) Night of the Hunter.

I think it's also coming per Facebook, Hulu, and Criterion's Newsletter. I think that covers it.

I was really excited for a Three Colours box set and assumed it was a lock because of the hint and because Red had become available to stream earlier this week on Criterions Hulu + channel.

BUMMED.
