yes, except for that. I am hoping for something announced for November that I would "jump to buy", but I doubt it. We'll see.

The only definite jump for me in November will hopefully be the Colours Trilogy...guess we'll see...

A really sad story, one that's hard to understand unless you have walked down that road. (I will have ten years clean in Oct. thanks to Methadone)

That would take some Grade A rationalizing, that would.
but would his wife Catherine allow a release of F&D?, more $ in her back acct!

I consider myself a pretty big Kubrick nut, but I never got around to watching Killer's Kiss for whatever reason. I could never bring myself to shell out the cash for the old MGM DVD when I always figured there'd be an upgrade in the cards. Criterion's finally come to my rescue. I watched it earlier today and it was a fun hour or so. The movie's no classic and the plotline is a bit silly, but Kubrick's photography is gorgeous and resembles his old Life magazine photo pieces. It's also refreshing to see him use locations in such a natural and beautiful way as opposed to the sets which would dominate his later work.

On another note, I the Blu-ray of Howard's End came from Netflix over the weekend. I'd seen the movie on TV about a decade ago and can't say it did much for me. I liked it, but felt it ultimately ended without wrapping things up in an effective manner. Anyway, I watched it again and loved it. A superb drama with excellent performances from a great cast, lovely photography, and wonderful sets and costumes. I guess the ending was just too subtle for my younger self.

It's more likely someone will film his Napoleon script (and I don't see that happening ever).

I was waiting for the first post of the morning (US - EST). I figured it would either be you Shell and/or CCFixx.

Unfortunately, I think A.I. will be the only non-Kubrick/Kubrick film that we'll ever see. Unless Jan Harlan wants to try to man and direct a Napoleon film, based on Kubrick's EXTENSIVE research.

But...who knows?!

I'm thinking of trading my BBS set for some other Criterion titles. What do you think is a good trade? two new titles for the set ? The only titles I want are yet to be released.

Still upset I cancelled Leon Morin Oh well there's always the next B&N sale.

Hard to say...Park Circus has released both those titles and others already. I'd like to see "The Kid" next, but side with you and figure to see The Gold Rush.

Yeah. I'm guessing The Gold Rush because if I recall correctly The Gold Rush Janus print toured before the City Lights one.

I think it will be City Lights because it's November and that film is the better regarded of the two. More people know and love City Lights and will buy and give it as Christmas presents.

Modern Times also came out during the November push last year.

Really? I would've thought the opposite.

I'd gladly have either title and assume both will come out eventually, so makes no difference to me.

Either way it's a win.

I didn't get to see the new City Lights print but I did see The Gold Rush one and it is pretty damn awesome.
