Partly because the DVDs weren't up to snuff, partly because Fincher fans are kinda like the fans of a guy whose name rhymes with Les Manderson.

I personally think it's fun, but not great. It's definitely second-tier Fincher. (The ending, in particular, only works if you don't think about it too hard.)

I think most people want it because Criterion put together a really kick-ass laserdisc set of this... and the DVD released in the States was bare-bones (and non-anamorphic, if I'm remembering correctly).

Plus I'm sure (as with all of Fincher's films), there are probably a lot of rabid fans out there. I'm not one of them, but I wouldn't mind picking this up...

I'm not the one complaining about Criterion on their release schedule. You will NEVER find me doing that, even if I don't care about a title I won't go on and on about it.

However I'll respond in kind whenever someone calls me out, particularly over something as silly as this. I find it unacceptable for people to put other users down simply because they are "pleased" with a release coming to blu-ray. WTF kind of attitude is that? Its sad really... a shame someone else had to bring it up with a drive by flame. I'll try not to carry it on though and I probably shouldn't have even replied to that worthless post...

THE GAME is good although I tend to think it's a bit of a novelty film (doesn't hold up on subsequent viewings).

The Game, or Panic Room, is probably Fincher's worst film. That ending is just laughably bad.

Maybe if the ending was a "downer" it'd be more appreciated.

Fes Panderson? I'm not familiar with his films?

I just liked the movie and want to see the supplements without blowing a load on the LD.

The only Fincher movies I haven't seen are Fight Club, Zodiac and The Social Network. (Although I will probably buy TSN and Zodiac once the prices come down.)

To be truthful I don't like most of the ALIEN 3 cuts and find Fight Club to be grossly pretentious and overrated.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but I think that the dude was actually pointing out that you said that you "could care less", which means the opposite of "couldn't care less", which is the correct expression.

Perhaps.

Then again grammar corrections on an internet messageboard are exceptionally douchy as well. So 99% of my reply still applies.

That would be pretty great, been waiting for Criterion to release City Lights before I see it.

I've seen the ending and some dialogue scenes, plus I read quite a few reviews.

I'm NOT saying people are wrong for liking it, I can get what its going for...but its not for me, plus being bombarded by literally seeing a bajillion different DVD versions over the past 10 years everywhere I went was a bit annoying.

ZODIAC went OOP. Happy Hunting. Zodiac ranks very high on my list of Fincher's work If not I think it is his best film ever. I just think it deserved a lot of Oscar noms and was looked over badly.

I don't feel those things are a substitute for truly watching the film from beginning to end, but to each their own.

I added more to my statement to clear things up.

Now don't ask me about Equilibrium and Transformers 3.
