Sorting by spine number was the most logical way probably.

Quite a few people do. I sort mine by spine.

There are a bunch of covers I would snatch up in a second if Criterion sold posters of them. Brazil and Belle de jour especially!

I was able to snag that one on Ebay for $5.98 shipped...seems like a reasonable price to me considering it was shipped to me from South Korea.

Maybe they're saving Rosemary's Baby for spine #666, since several people think it's coming out under Criterion. Maybe that's why they keep adding new titles, to get to it quicker, rather than upgrading older ones.

If a new sale takes place and if the sale follows suit of past sales then it should happen the month of July.

That's quite a conspiracy theory....but I do hope you're right!

I go by release year myself but I would not make a claim that it's the best way to go, just work well for me. Plus I mix my Criterion with my Kino, I hope I won't get burn for that?

Got World On A Wire today, I think I will reserve it for Friday or Saturday, when I am relax and can just give full attention to the story.

Nope, but for the polls, they made sense, as you were breaking them down by how they are classified within the collection.

I do release year for my pre-1980s films, and for my Disney films, going from Imitation of Life (the original Claudette Colbert one) to Being There. I haven't broken them down by months for films that came out in the same year yet though.

I've also separated out several of my "bio pic/historical DVDs," and have those sorted by chronological order as to when the film is set.

Speaking of the BRD trilogy (as mentioned on the last page)... what happened to the talk of it being upgraded? Has there not been any more news surrounding it?

You don't have to go in order. Veronika Voss was released after Lola and that is considered the 2nd in the "trilogy" anyways.

No news. It should be the first upgrade on the new schedule they said they were making up (asking people on Facebook which upgrades do they want to see), considering they have it out of stock, and no other title screams upgrade like one that isn't even in stock.

Thanks for the info--I'm hoping for it soon. May I ask you--what films of his you'd consider 'essential', or personally prefer?

It's so hard, because I could literally tell you every single one he made is essential, which to me is a high standard, because I wouldn't say that about Godard. Having said that, some of my personal favs (no order):

The Third Generation
Despair
Querelle
Berlin Alexanderplatz
The Stationmaster's Wife
In a Year with 13 Moons
Lola
Fox and His Friends
Martha

I have a couple more to see (Women in New York being 1). Alot of people loves his earlier films all the way up to something like Chinese Roulette. As you can tell, I love his later films just a little more.

I was going to say that Antichrist would have been a good choice, but I think I'd be more inclined to get Rosemary's baby, or the original version of The Omen with spine #666. Antichrist doesn't appeal to me.

Thanks! So far, I've just seen four of his films: Querelle (my favorite so far), World on a Wire, Fox and His Friends and I Only Want you to Love Me... but I've really enjoyed each one, so I want to see more of them. I've been meaning to see Despair, but a while back in this thread someone mentioned hating it, and others said it wasn't the best film of his to start out with...so I've held it off. I get the impression The Third Generation and Martha are two of the most celebrated ones, as I've seen them recommended often..so I'll need to see them soon as well (in addition to the others, of course). Would love it if they upgraded the trilogy soon.
