I know...like the Artificial Eye Mizo blu boxset that I keep trying to convince myself to buy. AND the MoC Mizos as well...I knew buying a region free player was a mistake.

Why is June so hard to get Criterions?
I am so use to them showing up late I usually don't bother looking for them a month and half before release

True. Amazon Canada only just notified me today that Harold and Maude is now coming out in June, and have thus split my pre-order so I'll still be getting The Organizer in April. Looks like I'll hold off on The Samurai trilogy until the B&N sale in July, and grab Shallow Grave and The 39 Steps with Harold and Maude. July sale's going to be a bit pricy now, although a few titles are the "discount deals," which may off-set some of the higher priced releases I want like Fanny and Alexander and The Samurai trilogy.

There is a help section on Criterion which tells me to e-mail mulvaney@criterion.com if you have a defective disc, but I haven't gotten a response. So I just wanted to see what other people's experiences were before ordering a new copy.
Just an update on this, I did get a reply from mulvaney and a replacement disc in the mail.

The June titles are up for preorder on amazon.ca. As of now, several are $38 though. Hopefully they'll adjust this down to the usual $27.99.

Probably not, because those are the prices they usually jump up to. Cheap jerks.

That is my trouble as well. In this last year since I got my region free player I am getting temptations from all over the world as before I was lock into my region

If the pre-orders are at $38 I think they wil lremain at those prices. It's only happen a few times that amazon.ca offered pre-orders of Criterion at less then $30. I want to buy Orphee but it's at $42 right now. Like the David Lean set (that is $95) I will take my chance at the summer sale. I really want them but I have too many other expenses at this time to buy them at these full prices

Hey Pat...I decided to jump on the UK Renoir and will likely cancel my Czech New Wave Eclipse set and wait for the sale in July. I usually jump on any films that are related to WWI/WWII and both La Grande Illusion and MoCs Lifeboat fit that bill. I'll take a pass on the Mizos for now and lick my wounds on these current purchases.

DAMN YOU ALL!!!

I wasn't enamored with Lifeboat when I saw it several years ago. I guess the heavy reliance on rear screen projection put me off. Still a good film though.

I think with time it seem I get tempted more and more with releases. I suppose it was going to happen with Blu-ray getting to be the main format and movies being release on it, like you I have to pace myself. My wife is really not one to nag and all but I still want to make sure bills are first unlike when I was single

On a side note, my Cleopatra set as arrived from the UK

I hear ya Shell...but it's a great cast and how can you go wrong with Steinbeck and Hitchcock. I'm always willing to dismiss minor shortcomings...

LOL...Damnit...we do think alike Pat! My wife is the first to push me to spend the money, but I tend to be frugal with both her and myself. Lately, it's been a challenge!

ENJOY the Cleopatra set!

I'll be able to hold off on Lifeboat but some of those shots from In Which We Serve are definitely improving my chances of grabbing the Lean/Coward set.

Not only do they look great from a transfer standpoint but their overall feel has really gotten its hooks in.

Cleopatra is for a bit later, some stuff came in since then that need's to be seen first. Tonight it will be The Lanvender Hill Mob, it came in during the week and I also have To Catch A Thief that I got on Wednesday. Plus I will probably start my Late Ozu Eclipse set this weekend, busy busy

This set does look very good, it's going to be a long wait for July, I hope B&N won't cancel their sale after the abuse that took place last time

No argument from me on that...but I'm jumping on some of the MoCs now and trying to save the Criterions until July. And I'm already likely going for the Czech New Wave and Berlin Alexanderplatz and that is only the tip of the iceberg. The only ones I'm getting before then are Late Spring and possibly one or both of the Bergmans.
