Received my flash sale order, but my Samurai Trilogy case was broken.

Credit goes to Paul Maher, Jr.

He said Badlands was on the way and he was correct.

Can't wait!

If Warner is really in play then cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.

You can start with The Big Sleep and move onto a hundred from there.

It took LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time for Warner to let go of Badlands. I wouldn't expect more than an isolated deal.

Does Criterion accept requests or something?

I noticed that titles you guys were really hoping for and talked about for months (i.e. Badlands and Brazil) have been announced / hinted at being announced.

EDIT: Found it. I suggested Mulholland Drive, Waitress, and Vanilla Sky.

I don't know if they will loan The Big Sleep. But they could with Lesser Bogart films. There are many Classic, Foreign Language and Cult films Warner has like Oh Lucky Man, Performance, Petulia, Day for Night, The Devils, A Very Long Engagement, Before Sunrise/Before Sunset, Dreams, 'Round Midnight, Night Moves, I am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang, Fury, Greed, After Hours, Fearless, A Face in the Crowd, I Confess, The Wrong Man and such that would be terrific in the Criterion library. But for all we know, it may be a one shot deal.

Yes! A hybrid cut of the 1946 version with the "exposition" parts of the 1945 version re-inserted... so, you know, it actually makes sense for the first time ever, lol.

Yeah, only if it has a new remaster though. Not the Pathe HD transfer that is available in France. Otherwise, I will be fine with the DVD.

Well if they let go of Badlands, I hope it isn't isolated and they got at least a few more: Before Sunrise/Sunset, Barcelona, McCabe & Mrs. Miller, etc. etc.

I wish Warner would have kept Badlands and put it out on their own. It would be an easy purchase as one of their $5.99 catalog prices after a while, instead of the Criterion mark-up...

IMO Warner let it go, because the Malick 'TREE" buzz is pretty much over and frankly they do not want to put the effort into the restoration. Who knows what the elements looked like. They keep spitting out sub-par catalog releases and figured Stallone would still sell 3to1 over it, so why bother.

Either way, hopefully this ends the wish list king...

If it is, in fact, Badlands, then fantastic. I'll be able to have all of Malick's films on Blu-Ray then.

Obviously I can't speak for anyone else who decides to get the whole collection, but the only person in the world who I think cares that i have them all is you.

I also don't collect them "for the sake of having them all", but again, I only speak for myself.

My Criterion order shipped earlier today, but I don't have the 'points' from it represented in my account... does it normally take that long?

Yeah, I wouldn't expect that either. But until now 'Warner doesn't license' has kept a lot of more implausible 'hey, they should get blahblahblah' speculation at bay.

It looks like those days are pretty much gone.

The two existing cuts are absolute musts. Well, not absolute I guess because I would buy a release with either but I would really prefer both.

Though now that you mention it, a Mr. Arkadin type 'what if' cut could actually be kind of interesting. I wouldn't expect it to make sense - that's an impossibly high bar in this case - but there's certainly room for it to make more sense, he said putting it mildly.

No? Did you look before, and after, the order? For me, points are added as soon as the order is placed.

Can't wait for a decent blu-ray of The Big Sleep.
I saw a 35mm print recently

Why do people always say The Big Sleep doesn't make sense?
[Show spoiler]It stars Bogart.
It stars Bacall.
Someone gets shot.
Someone gets poisoned.
There's a shoot-out.
Bogart kisses Bacall.
The End.
Makes perfect sense to me
