If there's no point, then there's no point, though. I'm also a big fan of 1925 version of The Phantom of the Opera, and, since that particular version is still in standard definition on the existing Blu-ray, I'm simply holding on to my Milestone Ultimate Edition DVD of that movie. |

Have there been any rumors as to whether Le doulos and/or Le deuxieme souffle will receive blu releases? I've been scouting the majority of Melville's catalog as of late and was considering picking up the Criterion DVDs if a future blu release seems unlikely.

Finished viewing Harakiri (1962) this morning. Great movie! Kept me transfixed all the way until the end. Very intense.
Not watching the remake, though. I don't watch remakes anymore. ![]() |

I've owned the DVDs for years, though, and they're pretty amazing. If you can find the DVDs for a cheap price, go for it! |

The movie has a cool build-up that did not quite pay off like I was hoping. Still, I recommend it. |

Seriously, though, the 1962 HARAKIRI is great, but the new version still sounds like it might be intriguing. |

One of the best sets Criterion has produced IMO is the Josef von Sternberg set. It's DVD, but if friends of mine are looking to try Silent films, this and Buster Keaton's The General are what I give them to start.

The man hanging from the clock is SAFETY LAST, a famous Harold Lloyd comedy.
And I wonder if the clown on the wire is MAN ON A TIGHTROPE, a film starring Frederic March, set in Communist Russia? The other clock in the drawing shows 3:10, a reference to 3:10 TO YUMA (the original 1957 film starring Glenn Ford)? ![]() Last edited by bluskies; 01-30-2013 at 12:55 AM. |
