I was planning on blind buying Gomorrah and Paris, Texas based on everyones recommendations and hoping for a flash sale. Oh well.

I own the Arrow release of Rififi and it is amazing. Comes with a beautiful and reversible cover art. The film is naturally a masterpiece. One of my favorite films. I saw Brute Force a year ago and really enjoyed it. Though a certain character during the first 20 minutes or so made me want to tie a bowling ball around my neck and jump off a bridge.

Just watched The Naked City for the first time. What a pleasant surprise. The ending was brilliant as well.

I think Panic in the Streets is the only Widmark film on blu-ray currently. We need more!

Maybe they are waiting until after they announce the May titles. But I still think they will have a Flash sale very soon.

Was that not a facebook-like sale?

Yeah, they were both Facebook sales.

By my order history, there have been 3 flash/Facebook sales:

Feb 24, 2011
Feb 14, 2012
Sept 24, 2012

Got some Amazon rewards $$. Need help picking 2 Criterions.

Paris, Texas
Repulsion
Wages of Fear
Walkabout

I've seen them all and enjoy almost equally.

I still need to watch M, Seventh Seal and 8 1/2 before buying but would consider any blind buy comments.

I am not on Facebook but I purchase from Criterion.com on a regular basis and recieved e-mails from them regarding sales. Not to say they have not been tied into the Facebook page also. In looking back at my order history Jrs76's dates are the dates I show also. It appears Feb and Sept are the months Criterion has set aside while Barnes and Nobel always seem to be July and Nov.

Paris, Texas should certainly be one of the two. I'd go with Walkabout, although it's a coin-toss between that and The Wages of Fear.

Heh, he is biased but he's also right. Since you've seen them and like them equally the fact that Paris, Texas has an absolutely stunning transfer is as good as tie-breaker as any.

Paris, Texas is one of the best Criterions. The Ry Cooder soundtrack is subdued, but wonderful. Harry Dean Stanton lends a coolness factor to every movie he's in. Nastassja Kinski is perfect. The sprawling landscapes of the western U.S. look outstanding on Blu-ray. Most importantly, the movie slowly and luxuriously works its way toward a beautifully emotional conclusion.

Plus, you get to see my avatar image in high definition.
