Unless you have a 100' screen I would stick with the 80 and use the $200 you save on the mod chip.

All my Blu-Rays are either U.S. releases or region-free. Doubt I'll be needing a mod chip. But if I do would you know what they cost and if they are hard to install?

Sorry to get a little off-topic!

As for Saló... I have the UK release from BFI and I think it's quite lovely! I have about 6 total BFI blu-rays so far and none of them have let me down. The picture quality is great, the extras are abundant, and the booklets are usually pretty darn thick.

Instead of region free, what about just ordering a blu ray player from amazon.co.uk, and having one player for region A and another for region B?

There's no reason that wouldn't work is there?

*edit* I guess amazon.co.uk won't ship blu ray players to the states?
Anyone know of European electronics stores/websites that I could check?

I think you're going to have voltage problems with that. Seems like a much bigger hassle than buying a region free player here or buying a mod.

I have the Oppo 83 and don't have the mod yet but plan to get it soon. I think it's $80 and is supposedly easy to install .

I agree. Criterion's original DVD release of "Saló" was the first Criterion DVD I ever purchased back in 199-whatever.

No it isn't. Everything was already done by David Prior and his team when they decided it would be released by Criterion.

That's what i'm doing. I bought the Sony BDP S360 from Amazon.com and had it shipped to a friend of mine in CA. He's gonna ship it this weekend, i think.

That i know off, i will need a travel adapter and a power converter so i can get it from 2??V down to 120-125V.

Hopefully it works

Got my copy of Lola Montes today.
It came with a sample of Vive Pro shampoo inside.

Anyone have issues with their cases from recent releases? My Hunger case is ok, but on the front right bottom corner, it looks like it wasn't flat when the plastic cover for the artwork was melted to the case so that corner kind sticks up a bit.

Should I contact Criterion? It's kinda bad because the plastic ripples out from that corner instead of being flat.

Of course, so you can have ravishing, fresh smelling hair like Lola. Err...unless your bald.

After viewing Benjamin Button, I now understand why Criterion got involved. This film is worthy of being in the Criterion collection.

I disagree, but I still understand why they took on the project ($$$). Ben Button is the only Criterion Blu I refuse to buy, along with Monterey Pop.

What?
Why would you not want Monterey Pop? That was one of my first Criterion blus!

Why? And you don't think Jimi Hendrix performing is worth it?

Edit: I saw him in another thread asking for a re-release of The Notebook. HE BETTER have a good defense.

Hendrix is a great artist, no question about that, just not my cup of tea. Why buy something I'd never be interested in watching?

They've caught a lot of flack for the film, but I really believe it is a movie that will age very well in the future and it's critical reception will only increase.

Trying to come up with some witty parallel between my use of "aging" and the film are hereby deemed unclever.

Criterion release Armageddon. Any hope you might have had of them staying completely true to their Art House, Classics, and International Greats ideals went kaboom in a big Michael Bay style explosion with their release of that bomb.
