Thats very Sobering. I've yet to lose someone in my immediate family, but I'm sure it must be very hard for you right now. It seems as if you have the right perspective to go through it with grace.

If you live near a Barnes & Noble that has stock Id buy locally and not even regret it. (With OOP titles.) Most are on Backorder with all retailers but a lot of stores still show stock.
Appreciate the heads up, went ahead and placed an order with Amazon to play it safe.

Absolutely!
[Show spoiler]Watching the supplements, I was stunned to discover that the scene where Tom Ripley takes over the yacht was filmed during a real windstorm at sea, where have the film crew was incredibly frightened.

Actually, Heaven was written by Kieslowski and its mostly a successful film. The Grifters is twisty fun, Dirty Pretty Things and Fresh are both socially conscious and intimate in ways I didn't expect. They're well worth a look.

I'd have to agree. Though I did enjoy Black Moon somewhat and loved 8 1/2. Which is unusual for me.

Well I have been talking a little about it and I am sorry I really don't want to derail the thread with all this but its good to talk a bit about it. It was a first for me as well in the sense seing someone living this life right in front of my eyes. Lot's of passing in my life in the family (was a very big family) but I never seen someone just go right in front of me and it had to be my dad on top of it. I am not young, I am well in my 40's but your parents will always be your parents and while my mom is with me, I been having the feeling the last few days of "who will take care of me now" which is a little silly but what can you

Le Cercle Rouge and Army of Shadows are two of my favorite movies. I have them on DVD, and I have been very slow to upgrade my collection. I decided to order the Blu-rays at Amazon just two days before the OOP notice was released. I really wanted these titles, so I bought them at a local B&N for $39.00/ea. with the idea that I could return them later if Amazon was actually able to ship.

A few days later, Army of Shadows was shipped, but Le Cercle Rouge is still sitting in limbo - 6 to 10 days to ship.

I think you better off skipping Salo if In The Realm Of The Senses was not something you enjoyed. I can't see that you would really like Salo at all

Le Cercle Rouge is a very good movie. If you want you can wait for the Blu-ray release of Le Samourai with Alain Delon but I would say if you can find it on DVD try to watch it or rent it (Not sure if you have seen it or not) Its also by Jean Pierre Melville

Well, this may sound trite but, life experience does change the way we look at movies. So talking about it makes sense. Initially we may only appreciate Chaplin films for their energy and antics, but later fall for their purity and timelessness. Furthermore, how will I view Wild Strawberries when I'm in my seventies?

I'm starting to get worried because my order from Movie Mars hasn't shipped for Mafioso. I actually cancelled the order with another Amazon seller with spottier word of mouth, because I trusted them, but I ordered Friday around noon and it hasn't shipped yet. It says shipping soon and it should by today, but if they cancel it, they just screwed me. All the reasonably priced copies have been drying up since Friday.

Le Samourai and Le Cercle Rouge are neck-and-neck for my favorite Melville movies. I have it on DVD, and I can't wait until it's released on Blu-ray.

That is very true. I discover new things as I grow older in some of my favorites, I don't view them the same as when I was 20. Experience really does change you and how you view certain things

Agreed 100% films as disparate as The Killer, To Live and Die in LA, Drive & The American are heavily indebted to it.

I got used copies of Army of Shadows and Le Cercle Rouge and a new copy of Leon Morin Priest, all locally. I ordered Le Cercle Rouge from Amazon, but I figured I'd get it locally in case Amazon didn't ship it. If they did, I could always sell a copy.

I'll wait for Studio Canal to release Le Samourai on Blu-Ray. The only Melville film I've seen is Bob Le Flambeur, so I figure now's as good a time as any to get some of his other films.

I am happy to say that (on my TV anyway) the new Criterion BD of Richard III looks absolutely incredible. There is a brief introduction at the start of the disc describing the restoration. (4K scan and color correction performed by The Film Foundation) It will be interesting to read the review as I would bet the video is highly regarded.

Only had time to view the first half hour, but plan to go back a view the film from start to finish this evening.

The night I first saw Bob Le Flambour and Le Samorai was one of the most revelatory movie experiences I've ever had. Great Performances, assured direction and nimble plotting make them very easy films to recommend.

Quick question, do you guys peel off the blue sticker from the wrapper and stick it on the criterion case itself?
