I'm always praying for a Le Samouraļ announcement. They've been hyping Lord of the Flies for a long while now, though, and it's just a matter of time. That will be a must-have in my book.

As for films set in Japan, perhaps do a search on IMDb or Google. |

I wish Criterion would do a Rifftrax type deal for their OOP commentaries or at least offer them for free. I can't imagine the studios or filmmakers would be too bothered by it.

So I'm on the hunt for Nights of Cabiria, and yes, I know I'm very behind. Unfortunately, I'm not one to spend $50 or more bucks on it at this point in the game. Which is why, when I came across this below, I was surprised and feel pretty strongly that it is most likely a scam. Especially since supposedly they have 50 copies. Hmm...

I'm sure most have heard of this film (in fact I'm sure this is one of the first places I had heard of this film), but I saw Possession today at my local theater and my god what a chaotic piece of cinema. I highly recommend checking it out. Especially since it seems a blu-ray should be coming soon from Mondo Vision.

Actually, I'll swap that one in, and kick out Ivan's Childhood. I thought the release date was after their trip, but it's smack dab in the middle of it, as they're going to be in New England for the week of the 16th.
I think Ivan can wait a bit longer, as I unfortunately wasn't a big fan of Solaris, and the plot of Market Lazarova actually interests me far more. I have a thing for medieval settings. Ivan's Childhood does have an interesting plot as well, but I need to keep my costs down. Only reason why Oz isn't getting kicked out is because I think I might get away with only paying for half of it. ![]() Actually behaving like an adult, and spending money on things like moving, and a new car kinda sucks. ![]() |

I've got a question, how do I go about replacing the stranded blu case with a CC clear case for the curious case of benjamin button I've found 2 disc clear CC cases for sale online but the art work for benjamin button is a different size from the other CC do I have to custom make an artwork for it or wat?

It looks like there is a chance that Babette's Feast might not come as soon as hoped. Apparently the director is suing over the rights to the film. It is hard to imagine this not having an impact on the release.

I'm definitely feeling Devil's Backbone and Lord of the Flies this month.
I went back and revisited Le Samurai this weekend, easily one of the coolest movies ever, up there with Breathless for that title. In Samurai, I've been wondering about the symbolism of [Show spoiler] . . . any thoughts or references are appreciated.I also watched Le Doulos (I've been on a Melville kick the past week or so, partly inspired by the conversations and ruminations on this forum re: Melville titles, OOP, and possible upgrades). I was especially struck in Doulos by the skillful use of sound - this seems to be something special that runs throughout Melville's work, the sound and sound editing really add texture and meaning to the film. Belmondo is fantastic in Doulos. His performance builds and builds on itself in ways that really make an important contribution to the film as a whole. |
