Though many of you would disagree with this, here is my list of Malick films that I rank the highest (or in other words, I enjoy watching most often): 1. The Thin Red Line 2. The New World (this is a close second) 3. Days of Heaven 4. Badlands 5. The Tree of Life 6. To the Wonder I absolutely think that The New World is Malick at his best. His juxtapositions between nature and savagery are absorbing and moving. The music in particular is breathtaking with very little of James Horner's original score and more of Wagner and Mozart in certain sequences. I was fortunate enough to see this film in a movie theater when it was released and I believe there were only about 6 people in the entire theater that night. |
