That's pretty good right there. I'll wait until July then, thanks.

My understanding is Tati's films were going to be remastered for release but I'm not sure when. I do hope we get a remastered version of Playtime of the original 70mm film that was released in Europe. I believe the film can look much better than currently what was released. Criterions transfer is based on a 35mm print. I also believe that's how it was released in the States theatrically?

I defer to those who've actually SEEN foreign films, and which ones might be fishier than others.

One can only hope. The Antonioni trilogy and Ozu's Tokyo Story top my Criterion Blu-ray wish list.

That might be a stretch but that boxset finally coming out would make me happy

I thought stromboli was made with salami?

The first thing I thought was the "Speak Italian" scene in A Fish Called Wanda... but that isn't right either.

Stromboli is just off the north coast of Sicily and features tuna fishing, Journey to Italy is Naples and Europa 51 is set in Rome.

I'm sure I could read Antonioni into any clue. But yes the Tuna bit was a stretch.

The New World is one of my favorite Malick films, right alongside The Thin Red Line. Oddly enough, I prefer Malick's "middle" films more than his earliest films or his most recent films.

Though many of you would disagree with this, here is my list of Malick films that I rank the highest (or in other words, I enjoy watching most often):

1. The Thin Red Line
2. The New World (this is a close second)
3. Days of Heaven
4. Badlands
5. The Tree of Life
6. To the Wonder

I absolutely think that The New World is Malick at his best. His juxtapositions between nature and savagery are absorbing and moving. The music in particular is breathtaking with very little of James Horner's original score and more of Wagner and Mozart in certain sequences. I was fortunate enough to see this film in a movie theater when it was released and I believe there were only about 6 people in the entire theater that night.
