I'd like to, in the sale, get

Solaris
Gomorrah
Revanche
The Night of the Hunter
Traffic
A Night to Remember
The Wage of Fear
The Battle of Algiers
La Haine
Hunger
Antichrist
Rosemary's Baby
Heaven's Gate
On the Waterfront
America Lost and Found
David Lean Directs Noel Coward

I'll probably be getting 10 max though.

Those are what come to mind immediately, without looking, anyways. I'm sure I've missed some.

Solaris, Heavens Gate and Gomorrah are just as great, if not greater, than the bolded.

I'm sure Kevin has seen them anyways and is not asking for reccomendations

I keep forgetting to buy The Night of the Hunter, I'll buy that along with about a dozen other titles in July.

That's a great film with first rate supplements. I didn't mean to exclude those not in the chosen three, but they are indeed the ones I am most passionate about, Solaris especially

Tarkovsky is amazing, Criterion has amazing Blu-ray's of Solaris and Ivan's Childhood that should be on the top of anyone's to get list.

Kino has a fantastic Blu of the Sacrifice that should also be picked up. It looks glorious.

If you are looking for an Oshima fix, his first feature film, A Street of Love and Hope, is the free Criterion 101 Days of Summer film on Hulu right now (and Safety Last! is still free for another five hours or so).

It's amazing! There are a couple scenes I have to turn away but it's a really intelligent and engaging ("entertaining" isn't the right word) movie, the structure is very interesting. Hope you like it!

Happy to hear the 50% off at B&N is coming soon!

I'll definitely get...
-On the Waterfront
-Purple Noon
-Last Temptation of Christ

and maybe...
-Naked
-Repo Man
-3:10 to Yuma

Hope this lasts long enough for me to pick up The Devil's Backbone. Right now, it only looks like I'll be picking up the July releases during the sale.

I think you would appreciate it as it completely deconstructs and destroys the allure of romanticized gangster films. Scarface it is not. I suggest a rental first, because it is unmistakably a cold film and some have found it slightly confusing. Maybe I am just scatter brained, but I follow "hyperlink" or multi stranded films, like this one, easier than plotty linear ones.

I'm a big fan of the hyperlink style, so that's just another thing to draw me towards the film. Going to see if my library has a copy.

Me too Randy, i want Scanners to come out this Halloween and hope it will improve over the grainy bareboned MGM DVD and will give us nice picture and sound with extras this time.

I hope it is as great as Criterion's other horror BDs like Rosemary's Baby, Videodrome, Cronos, Island of Lost Souls etc.

Speaking of horror, how about Dario Argento's Suspiria anyone? that one is worthy of a Criterion edition on BD as it needs a BD badly and could be remastered with supervision by Dario Argento. And how about Peter Jackson's early films? they need the Criterion special edition treatment.

Sadly, the Weinsteins own the rights to Suspiria and have for a couple of years now. I messaged Don May on facebook (at least I think it was him who responded) to see if he had heard any updates it and he told me that he had even offered to restore it for them but never heard back.
I would really love a blu of that one too but it seems like they aren't as interested in it as all of us
Unless they're waiting for David Gordon Greens remake to come out to announce it...

Just watched Badlands for the first time, I really really enjoyed it! My favorite Malick I've seen thus far (out of that, Days of Heaven, and The Tree of Life).

If anyone is excited about the upcoming release, Marketa Lazarová is today's free film on Hulu for Criterion's 101 Days of Summer.

http://www.hulu.com/movies/criterion

I am excited to see it, but don't think I have a free 2:45 to watch it today.

Since the gigantic Criterion Collection sale by Amazon.com, I purchased eight movie titles, including one of them is being shipped.

Movie Titles

12 Angry Men
The 39 Steps
Anatomy of a Murder
Beauty of the Beast
Metropolitan
Richard III
The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp
The Last Emperor

In aggregate, I have seventeen Criterion Collection movie titles.

I loved Gomorrah when I first saw it, and I'm generally not a fan of mobster/mafia films.

As you say it is very cold, and the end although expected is just brutal.

I'll be grabbing it this time round.
