You think Gummo has an acceptable release? What's more acceptable, the sub-par quality (even for being filmed on that kind of camera) or the fact that to get even a used copy you have to spend $50 or more?

Blus 194/223.. Have additional 23 of CC DVDs and 1 LD Blood for Dracula.
Watched 78...Slowly but surely..HULU is a blessing as you can screen them first before you actually take a plunge.

I am hopeful to see Releases tomorrow on Father's day...Looks like Le Samourai will be one of them...

Does Jacques Tati get any better than M. Hulot's Holiday? It's something I rarely do, but I ended up shutting this off after half an hour because I wasn't enjoying it at all.

I didn't necessarily enjoy M. Hulot's Holiday when I first watched it but I continued with his films. I watched Mon oncle after that and really liked it. Then I went on to Playtime which is a perfect film. One of my absolute favorites. Upon revisiting his films I realize Holiday isn't the greatest place to start with his films (but neither is Playtime, there's just too much to take in without knowing his style).

Currently there are 223 Criterion Blu-ray releases (Counting anything that can be bought from Criterion separately as one release. So Sanjuro and Yojimbo each count as one even though you can buy them together, and America Lost And Found is also one)

So given that method of counting, how many have you seen?

I suppose i should start: 130 of 223.

Has anyone seen all 223?
About 203 out of 223

Playtime is quite different.

Side note:

Ironically, watching The Blob after Man of Steel was like removing the muck from my eyes.

Just watched The Lady Vanishes, albeit on a shameful DVD release. Fantastic film. I'd only seen Psycho and The Birds from Hitchcock before, so it was nice to see him working with some humor. Definitely going to need to pick up the blu during the B&N sale. I wouldn't be upset if any Hitchcock titles got offered in the 101 Day of Summer on Hulu.

I also watched Au revoir les enfants earlier today. Is there any better double feature in the collection than The 400 Blows and this?

I'll probably give something else a chance at some point. Of his films in the collection, M. Hulot was the one I had the least interest in, but it was also the one I had the easiest access to.

I've seen 167 of the 238 that are listed on Criterion.com (which includes upcoming releases), excluding box sets where I haven't seen every film in the set. So roughly 70%.

I just watched this the other day for the first time. Quite a few Crumb references in it.

I saw the 2007 film of 3:10 to Yuma on Lionsgate's excellent blu-ray, which I thought was damn good fun and it makes me interested in catching the Glenn Ford version, assuming it's sufficiently different in treatment.

is the three colors trilogy a release a "movie" fan should have seen at least once? im thinking about buying it. but not sure if i should get the UK release or the criterion. the UK release would be way cheaper to get.

is it more of a movie you watch once or enjoy to revisit?

So far, I watched two Criterion Collection movie titles (Paths of Glory and Blow Out). However, I'm planning to see more Criterion Collection movies in the immediate future.

Actually the 2007 film follows the story line very closely at times. As far as action, and what not, 'yes' they're pretty different, but the same 'struggles' and tension exist.

I've got them all, and I've seen probably all but 25 or so, and some of the box sets etc... I've only seen some of the films in. (I have yet to finish By Brakhage for instance)

No love for Brakhage, Beta Man I too haven't finished viewing the entire set. I'm a little over half way done with it.

So I've been trying to get Le Cercle Rouge for about a month now with my limit around $40-$45. Most people are asking around $60 or $70 for a new copy. I don't care if it is new/used so long as it is in good shape. Anyone have any suggestions or care to comment on the likelihood of me be successful? Also, is Studio Canal planning on releasing a Region A version?

Ebay currently has a like new copy with a bid of $15.00, you could try that.
