I wasn't aware that his talk was that extreme. I understand the annoyance. And I see a bit of stereotyping as well. But this is just a forum guys, c'mon relax. Nothing said here deserves all this. We are just a bunch of people with ideas and opinions. If all you want to talk about is film, then one way to solve that is to only talk about film.

Funnily enough, Ride - Nowhere is my favorite album of the 1990s, hands down. I heard "Vapour Trail" when I was a freshman in college, and I was hooked. I never understood why those guys were not more popular back in the day. They had some cool catchy songs, they had the looks, and they were more original than most. I also love the early EPs that Ride released before Nowhere. The band went downhill after Going Blank Again, but Carnival of Light is not a bad album, and even Tarantula has a couple of cool moments.

I think Slowdive's Souvlaki is my favorite all-time shoegaze/space rock album ever. I can listen to that album nonstop and still never get tired of it. Can you recall any films where any songs from the Souvlaki album are on there? If so, Criterion ought to release an edition with any shoegaze music on there (the only movie that comes to mind is Lost in Translation with Kevin Shields doing a bit of the score).

Any and all show gaze fans should check out No Joy's album "Wait to Pleasure". They're a pretty good new band with a handful of awesome songs, most notably "Lunar Phobia."

Wow, how come I never knew about this nu-gaze band either?! Thank you for the recommendation. I just listened to some track clips on allmusic.com. The new album you mentioned got a 4.5 star review (out of 5 stars) too. Some really good stuff here I must discover now. I will be downloading and listening to this album soon and may report back my thoughts.

Wait to Pleasure came out less than 2 months ago, so you haven't been in the dark too long.

You should PM me the full list of Shoegaze stuff I should be listening to other than MBV, Galaxie 500 and Slowdive.

I watched the '25 original first mainly because I'd only seen the '42 version. For a first time viewer that's never seen either....tough call.....You win either way!
