Nice! I had to print out a custom replacement case for mine.

I got mine for $180 last year.

So I got World on a Wire and Solaris for recommended sci fi films. Which one should I get? I'm currently thinking:

Brazil
Gojira
Safety Last
The aforementioned titles
Island of Lost Souls

Now... If Lady from Shanghai or Double Indemnity had two similar releases, I wouldn't think twoce about dropping $150.

Alright, I'm a little confused. When does the 50% off B&N sale start? Just spoke to a lady at B&N and she told me "late summer" which doesn't seem right. It's usually in July & November.

Anyone have any insight on this? Thanks!

Solaris. It may be a bit slow for some, but it is my favorite sciFi film (slightly above 2001, Blade Runner).

I'm usually such an optimist with films too. I try to see the positive aspects especially with films lauded by critics. With this one, I just couldn't do it. Beautiful cinematography alone does not a movie make.

I payed around 80-85 for mine a couple years ago and I still don't have a replacement case. Luckily my cardboard edition is still mint. I know some others will tell you that the Studio Canal is a much better deal etc. but I absolutely love the way the Criterion transfer looks. Like a film print slapped onto a disc. It truly is a marvel to watch.

RE: the Truffaut set - I noticed something odd recently: though there hasn't been an OOP announcement Criterion is no longer selling it on its website, and it wasn't a participant in recent 50% off deals on Amazon, Best Buy, or B&N.

It's kinda similar to the situation with Fassbinder's BRD Trilogy box, except in that case Criterion actually rendered the product OOP.

I wonder if this quietly portends an imminent HD upgrade, but I might pick it up during this sale through various, efficient coupon machinations after some other priorities.

And I mirror an earlier comment that stated Stolen Kisses might be the best film in the cycle. It's one of my favorites of his, period.

I would love a BLU upgrade for the whole set myself.

if you click on the Details link below the item listing where the Buy Link normally is located a box will pop up stating

How about Lola Montes? I was lukewarm on that upon first viewing also. Got any good reading material for that one?
