Sorry. I just dont handle disappointment and extreme lackluster efforts on the extras well I guess.

Would have loved to have seen at least one interesting (to me) titles this month loaded with good extras.

OK, so I'm thrilled that I waited to open my copy of Eyes Without a Face...because they just announced it in the October batch!!! So, I'm gonna return that tomorrow and preorder Devil's Backbone instead.

Weird, I was pleasantly surprised (or looking forward to) just about everything this time. Strange to see so much disappointment.

That said, adding a single extra to warrant a 10 dollar price bump is not a trend I want to see continue or rewarded.

What's odd is that some things with one supplement have been at the lower price the past few months. The Organizer had an interview with the director on it and Ministry of Fear had an interview. Kind of a sad move on Criterion's part. I hope they alter the price.

There are HD transfers of the last four films floating around, I'm sure it's just a matter of time...

Kinda disappointing October lineup for me, no movies I've seen and I was really hoping for at least Eraserhead as far as Lynch films go. I'm interested in seeing La Notte, I Married a Witch, and the Cassavetes movies though.

As for the Blade Runner influences in Pacific Rim, one just has to see the movie. Seriously, Pacific Rim production stills could almost pass of as Blade Runner's (a film Guillermo del Toro said changed his life). It's not a damning observation at all, as it's very nicely done.

Yup Guillermo del Toro is quite a genius and his movie was a nice homage to that movie plus Japanese sci-fi and anime.

Hey reelgeek, did you think they did a great restoration job on Island of Lost Souls? i always liked that movie since i saw it on TV as a kid and i had it on video for years as i waited in the last decade for a DVD but thank god criterion rescued the film and did a great BD.

They're both really good but Sweet Smell of Success is basically a must own.

You will buy it at some point. Just get it over with.

Then again, you're going to buy Kiss Me, Deadly at some point too so flipping a coin would work too.

Interestingly enough, these two were both movies I was debating between for the sale, and ultimately went with two different films.

SSS is more a noir drama, whereas KMD is more of a pulp noir (complete with 50's nuclear overtones). SSS may be the better movie, but for my money KMD is the more interesting one.
