Canada Shock Corridor

Hi. Does anyone here own the BR copy of Shock Corridor? I have just checked my insert booklet and on some pages the text is misaligned. Pages 18-23 are the ones most noticeably affected.

Anyone else have the same problem?

Just interrupting the B&N discussions long enough to post the reminder for PS3 folks--

To celebrate yet another cheesy new original-series (gee, it gets so much attention when Netflix does it, and we did it first! ), HuluPlus is offering 2 free startup months of their service--and the basic essential Instant Criterion streaming collection within, including some Eclipse titles, and many not yet on disk--for new subscribers:
http://www.hulu.com/plus/awesomes2month?cmp=2610
(The promotion seems to be across the board, so there may be equivalents for X-Box Live, Wii and smart-TV/player apps, but someone else will have to verify that.)

For those who have considered seeking help and treatment, the free clinic is now open.

Mine is the same, had this title for a couple of years now. The text leans to the left or the right, depending on which page you are on. I didn't give it much thought until I saw your post.

I have to admit that I've only seen a few Czech films - Valerie and Her Week of Wonders has long been one of my favorites. Hopefully this one is as amazing as everyone says. For $17, I figure its worth a shot if it means possibly discovering a great movie that wasn't even on my radar before.
Marketa Lazarova is a wonderful movie, and you will never regret your choice.

Don't feel bad if you are fumbling around for the first 40 minutes of Marketa Lazarova for your first viewing. We all did.

After revisiting the 1956 remake that stars James Stewart and Doris Day, I decided that my preferences sway slightly in the direction of the original 1934 version that was given such a beautiful release by Criterion. For me, nothing can replace the menace of Peter Lorre in that version, and I loved the wild and crazy gunfight.

I've got a lot of love for the 1956 version as well, so my preference for the original is high praise. I'm convinced that Steven Spielberg drew influence from a pivotal Morocco sequence in the remake for some of his chase scenes in Raiders of the Lost Ark. James Stewart and Doris Day are both quite fun in their roles, and it's fun to see the frame-by-frame similarities that the remake shares with the original during the London scenes.

Watching the 1956 version really made me want to revisit my Criterion of the original, so I might just do that this weekend.
The remake is the superior movie imo.

Yeah, it is slanted, almost to the point that the bottom sentence could fall off the page

At least I know it is not just my copy.

Dang, I was about to pick that one up; but I went with The Killing and The Devil's Backbone.

I might have to go back before the sale is over and pick that one up.

Rules of the Game: Terrific movie. It was the one that sold me on Renoir.

Fish Tank: About a month ago, I saw this listed as a free movie on Comcast On Demand. I didn't recognize it at the time as a Criterion title, but was intrigued because of Michael Fassbender. I watched the first 10-15 minutes, and just couldn't get into it. It might be that I just wasn't in the right frame of mind that day (unfortunately, that was the last day it was available On Demand), so I didn't have the opportunity to give it another shot).

Made a last stab at the B&N Criterion sale today. Picked up El Norte, The 400 Blows, The Last Metro, Léon Morin, Priest, and the Yojimbo/Sanjuro box.

I just got a free trial of Hulu+ and I see they have some Criterion movies on there. Do they always have the same ones or do they rotate them in and out every once in a while? I've already seen Hoop Dreams and Breathless. I have Vivre Sa Vie, Cronos, Lord of the Flies, Gimme Shelter and Hunger in my queue.

update - added Stranger than Paradise, Down by Law, Mystery Train, Sisters, Slacker, Three Colors, George Washington, Tokyo Drifter and Paris, Texas to my queue.

I think it's generally the same movies although not all their Blu-rays are available on Hulu+ , but there are tons not yet released on Blu-ray but are part of the Criterion catalog that you can stream. Very much worth a monthly subscription IMO.

I have no desire to see Sharknado, but I'm glad that Tara Reid is still acting in films. I used to love watching her back in the day.

If Criterion released the Monsters and Madmen set and Equinox, then Sharknado is always a future possibility. (Half jokingly tone here)

That 50% off Criterion sale at B&N got me good. Besides The Devil's Backbone which may just have the best artwork of any blu-ray I own, I picked up Following, Fear and Loathing, Shallow Grave, Traffic, Videodrome and Carlos. I wanted to get Cronos as well but they didn't have it. I already owned The Game, Benjamin Button and Rosemary's Baby so those bring my total Criterion Collection to ten!

I have never seen Following or Carlos so I'm excited to check those out!

hey quick question why do you think criterion has never released a animated movie (house doesn't count cause they used animation as special effects for that movie)
