Criterion's inserts are fantastic. Most other studios/companies don't have any inserts, much less the wealth of infomation that Criterion includes. Primo! |

Just a random example, but, when I'm in the mood to listen to Van Halen, I will rarely, if ever, listen to A Different Kind of Truth (2012), and, instead, go for the true gems, such as Van Halen (self-titled debut album), Women and Children First, Fair Warning, 1984, or even 5150. 99% of the time, I'll go for the earlier Hitchcock films in the box set instead of going for Family Plot, but that movie still hits the spot on the rare occasion that I do want to revisit it, and I'm glad that it's there. |

1) Get over the obsession with how a movie looks on the shelf; 2) Don't buy it; 3) Make a custom cover, or pay someone to make one for you. Last edited by retablo; 09-05-2013 at 12:33 AM. |

"I like these calm little moments before the storm. It reminds me of Beethoven. Can you hear it? It's like when you put your head to the grass and you can hear the growin' and you can hear the insects. Do you like Beethoven?" "Now, I want you to tell me everything you know about Italian food, and don't forget the name of the chef who fixed it for me." "I take no pleasure in taking life if it's from a person who doesn't care about it." Hahaha. Stansfield ruled. |

Things To Come is brilliant. I should probably re-write my own User Review, since I have an even higher opinion of the movie now that I've had a while to marinate on it. It's such a joy that this movie is now available, because I had been wanting to see it for so long.

Alfred Hitchcock's Frenzy is different than his standard fare, but I love how it reminds me of the late 1960s/early 1970s Hammer Studios films. There's suspense and horror mixed in with a fair amount of shameless sleaze. Alfred Hitchcock's ability to arouse sympathy for horrible villains is at its best here, thanks to the brilliant physical comedy sequence in the potato truck, and, as with many of his films, this one excels at showcasing the plight of a wrongly-accused individual. |

Hitchcock had another movie planned, but it's always said he thought this would be his last film, so you can see him teasing with cemeteries and "seances". (The [Show spoiler] is a nice hint.)And yes, when it gets put into Great Hitchcock Moments collages, it's either the mountain race or the Karen In Black opening... Quote:
[Show spoiler] scene, which reminds you this's still THE Hitchcock, even in mod 70's clothes.

Well, Sullivan's Travels is coming to Blu Ray in the UK.
https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=12070 I'll be happy with that unless Criterion announce something really soon. ![]() |
