There is a (in my opinion ) great Salo Blu-ray by BFI available.

By the way have you received any packages from the B&N B2G1F sale yet?
B&N sale : nope not a single bluray arrived so far.

Salo: the criterion bluray should be superior in terms of video quality and bonus content.

im probably gonna get days of heaven, since its the only malick movie i do not own yet.

The BFI release of Salo includes some footage that the Criterion release doesn't have. I prefer Criterion's packaging, however.

I'm also excited about Eyes Without a Face. I already own the DVD, though, so I might wait for a sale. Great movie.

I am the proud owner of Slacker.

I decided to use a 20% Off B&N coupon in conjunction with my normal discount and normal sale, since there was a copy in immaculate condition at the store during lunch. (I like to buy these digipaks in person, just to make sure that there is no damage.)

I don't expect any real improvement over my old DVD as far as picture quality, but maybe some colors standing out with more prominence, but I'm glad that I upgraded this strange strange bit of my early 1990s college days nostalgia.

A few other people here were posting about watching this movie. We should all watch it tonight.

The Wages of Fear for the win, although Days of Heaven, A Man Escaped, The Wages of Fear, and Black Narcissus are all perfect 10 movies on a scale of 10.

What a shame.

Uh, I don't know...I never watched the bonus material, but there was a second disc in the case!

If anybody's looking for a third $30ish B2G1 candidate The Spy Who Came In from the Cold dropped to $30.34 at B&N.

...and I cannot recommend this Blu-ray enough. The picture quality is astounding, and it's a brilliant espionage film.

Last night, I watched and loved the new Blu-ray of Marathon Man, a film that carries over from when I used to rent the VHS tape during my high school days. It would make a decent double feature with The Spy Who Came in from the Cold.

Yeah, in addition to being very good in its own right I have a soft spot for 60s B&W cold war films. Seven Days in May, The Manchurian Candidate, Fail-Safe, Strangelove...you gotta love 'em.

I'm looking forward to The Devil's Backbone and Seconds too. I was going to wait until Nov but once TSWCIFTC dropped I said what the hell.

Ah, the sale's still going.

Is it only me or is B&N having some problems during the checkout right now?

I own but haven't yet watched Days of Heaven so I can't recommend one over the other but Paths of Glory is absolutely fanstastic.

I was able to place an order a half hour or so ago without any issues but their site can be clunky in general.

Got it now. First, they wanted $30 for shipping, after that one film with a gift wrap and finally it worked.

Charulata, The Spy Who Came In From The Cold and Seconds for me.

I thought about taking advantage of the B2G1 sale for a second time today when I bought Slacker, but I got a great discount off that movie, and I wanted to save some cash for some notable releases over the next month. I'll wait until the next big sale to buy some straggler titles that I still have not upgraded.

Was thinking of heading out today or tomorrow and seeing what they had in store. Want to use my 20% coupon I got along with my normal discount. Also got a 15%, too bad I can't use all three... or could I???

waiting on the Sept 50% sale at criterion.com, just like everyone else. Really trying to decide what I want to buy.

All of these are excellent choices, except...mmm..er...Salo

I'd get Days Of Heaven or A Man Escaped first.

To speak in the words of Colonel Dax: Gentlemen of the court, there are times that I'm ashamed to be a member of the human race and this is one such occasion. Of course you should buy both!

I just hope I can resist Eyes Without a Face for those two weeks between release and Halloween.

It's not like I don't have tons of other stuff but still...

I've already resigned myself to the fact that Eyes Without a Face will be a Day One or a first week purchase. I've already got that under consideration in my budget. I've been fired up to see that Blu-ray since I sold my DVD just after the announcement of the upgrade.

Yeah, if it were any other month, I'd probably wait until a sale, but October is one fine month for that particular movie.
