B&N takes forever to arrive and criterion does not ship blurays to germany.
Are you from Germany, Mansinthe? Or an american in Germany? Because I live part of my time there and here in the states. I've had the same problem with ordering some specific items like Criterion! So, I'd pick up most of my stuff here and bring it back with me later!

Hmm, do you guys think we can expect an upgrade of Eisenstein: The Sound Years in 2014?

Three more flies landed in the web today, courtesy of the Barnes and Noble B2G1 sale and another 20% off coupon that a friend gave me.

I probably could have saved ten dollars by waiting for a Flash Sale, but these were in my hand and they were in perfect condition.
Kiss Me Deadly and Repulsion are upgrades of DVDs that I used to own, although it took me a while to get around to upgrading.
To Be or Not to Be is a blind buy, but I've been psyched about this one for a while.

If the Flash Sale happens, I'll probably grab another title or two, although I'm happy to say that I'm starting to reach the bottom of the well as far as existing Criterion Blu-rays that I want in my collection.

Funnily enough, I can thank my recent post with the Criterion postcards from a few days back...
I went into a box in my closet to get the postcards to take a picture, and sifted through a ton of old promotional CD samplers that I had habitually picked up for free on store counters over a couple of decades before I realized that most of them just collect dust. I decided to "de-hoard" my closet, and took these old promo CD samplers to a used CD store operated by some friends, asking them to buy anything that they could buy, and then simply put everything else on the free rack for people to pick up. It turns out that they were able to buy a lot of them, so I ended up with almost $70.

Kiss Me Deadly... I think I've watched my BLU close to 10 times. It is maybe even my most watched of CC blus.

I got a lot of mileage out of my old Kiss Me Deadly DVD a couple years ago and overplayed it at the time, so I put off upgrading it for a while.
After I watched my Blu-ray of Stanley Kubrick's The Killing last week, however, I got to thinking about Kiss Me Deadly again and decided to make the upgrade a priority.

With this 50% Criterion.com sale possibly tomorrow, can you put your items in your cart in advance or do you have to wait till sale goes live?

Good question. Mine are there now. If it's a coupon code I'd say you can pre-load it.

Does anyone know what the cases for Criterion releases will look like once they go to the duel release format?

The two films differ plotwise, but they are both film noir. Kiss Me Deadly actually has a lot more in common with The Maltese Falcon than it does with The Killing, but watching the Kubrick film last week got me thinking a lot about film noir in general.

FYI, BN.com dropped the price of Autumn Sonata to $31.40 (but still about a dollar higher than Slacker / La Cage Aux Folles.)

IIRC, their cart does not keep the items once you leave the site.

I'm not usually too picky on cases, but I've never been a fan of the packaging on Criterion 2-disc releases. Now that basically everything is going to be a 2 disc release, I'll probably just end up putting every new Criterion I get in a CD book because the way their 2 disc cases have been in the past it's just too easy to damage the discs.

I was blown away twice the first time I watched it through the CC BD : once by the PQ, and once by the movie overall, which I found incredibly well-crafted.
Needless to say, when Carlotta announced a French BD release some time ago, it was pre-ordered Day 1.

I'm wondering about what the inside will look like. I pulled my Heaven's Gate discs out of the case since it looked to me like the top disc was getting bent, and the bottom disc would get damaged if I took it out more than a couple of times.

It's a step up from the old DVD 2-disc cases from a few years back where the push down thing on the top disc was hard to push down and the disc had to be bent in order to get it out.

Excellent, that's what i've been waiting for. I'll hold off till tomorrow to see if we get a sale from Criterion first however. I doubt it as Criterion doesn't usually have sales on their titles while BN does. My guess is that their normal 50% off sale shifts back to October due to this b2g1 bn sale.
