I've never seen Sansho the Bailiff, but I love my Blu-ray of Marketa Lazarova. It's an unflinching, but oddly ethereal, medieval masterpiece.

Gate of Hell is a rare blind buy for me (look at those pretty colors), I haven't seen Godzilla in years but I like Super Sentai so I'm cool with guys in rubber suits causing destruction to obvious miniatures and watching Late Spring for the second time is the kick in the rear end I need to check out Ozu's films made after that one.

Pretty big Criterion related day for me. Rossellini set, To Be or Not To Be and Identification of a Woman shipped from B&N, Eyes Without a Face and I Married A Witch shipped from ImportCDs, and Bergman Eclipse, The Magician, World on a Wire and The Magic Flute (DVD) ordered from Criterion.

Plus, I received L'avventura and L'eclisse today (neither the Criterion release, but Criterion titles nonetheless). I think I'm saving them both for my day off on Thursday.

Nice! I wouldn't mind seeing that one again myself.

I thoroughly enjoyed revisiting The Vanishing tonight. I pray that Criterion will upgrade this one to Blu-ray someday. It's the best Hitchcock film that Hitchcock never made.

As is, however, this was my first time watching The Vanishing DVD on a widescreen HDTV, and the upconvert is not half bad.

No! Criterion charges 9.95 shipping for first item and 2.95 each additional. In about ten years of ordering movies from the U.S. from various vendors I have never been hit with import fees. You'd be paying an extra $7 (or $14 or $21 etc) for nothing.
