Yeah, definitely. MMMM is one of my favorite films of all time. Because of it, I will always be intrigued when I here she's apart of a project.

I just hope the big budget doesn't make it feel like a typical film made for money if that makes sense - Monsters was fantastic and I loved that you didn't really see many of the monsters, made it more mysterious and because he was on a very tight budget he made use of everything so well.

Keep in mind that the CGI effects might not be the final versions. Hopefully, once the film is released, things will be looking amazing.

Yeah hopefully, I know special effects rant everything, but I just find if they stand out and look fake it breaks you away from the film, it makes you realise your watching a film that isn't real, when its handled well it helps absorb you in the film!

Godzilla is a great release, and one that I have revisited several times. I think you will enjoy it.

B&n usually had a 40% off all blu & dvd that if combined with a 15% or 20% coupon and membership will give you a good deal. I think it was in April last time.

On the bright side, your single Criterion purchase is a wise choice that is superior to most of the other films in the Collection. It's one of my top five Criterion titles.


Last night, I watched the 2D Blu-ray of Alfonso Cuarón's Gravity. After seeing the movie at a 3D theater this summer, I assumed that it would lose a lot of punch when viewed on television screen at home. While there's no substitute for a theatrical showing of Gravity, however, I'm pleased to report that this movie is still a win across the board on Blu-ray. It's not the best movie of 2013, and, in fact, it did not even make my own top five, but it's a visual treat in every way.

I've seen it a few times and trying not to get too excited about it.

And I love Juliette Binoche. I think Jet Lag is one of my favorite films of her's, and doesn hurt that it has Jean Reno either. Such a great movie.. imho.

It's July for the B&N 50% off sale. I think they usually have a 40% off or B2G1F offer before that.

There's def a 40% sale before July at B&N I remember using it last yr.

I seem to have Quadrophenia on my mind right now, and I came close to ordering it, but I'm still not sure if it's one I really wanted to own. Might just rent it again, see if I like it better on a second viewing.

I've never seen Quadrophenia before, but ordered it to get over the free shipping hump. I figure if you like The Who's music, it's worth a shot. Plus Dr. Svet gave it a glowing review. Looking forward to seeing (and hearing) this one.

Of all of these Diabolique is my personal favorite. And that Raymond Bernard set was one of my very best blind buys a few years ago. That has a great version of Les Miserables. Good work.

I enjoyed the Charles Laughton/Fredric March 1935 version of Les Miserables and heard a lot of good things about the Raymond Bernard version which I have never seen yet. Can't wait to watch it

The 1958 adaptation of Les Miserables, starring Jean Gabin (La Grande Illusion) is available on Blu-ray from Olive Films. It has a stately feel and is more faithful to the novel than most. The Technicolor presentation looks quite brilliant.
