I ordered the Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman box set.

I'm nervous about ordering a digipak like this by mail instead of buying it in person, but $105 is a good deal, and I've got the cash on hand since my tax return arrived last week. I know that some peeps got it for $80 or so from Barnes and Noble with coupons during the last deal, but this is not far removed from that.

I'll have to lie low with purchases for the rest of March, but there are only a handful of Blu-rays out for release this month anyway.

The only thing is... I have no idea when I'm ever going to find the time to watch all of these. It may be a one movie per month thing.


This is my biggest blind buy yet. (Hahaha. Thanks for the applause, everyone. I'll be here all week!)

Can someone tell me what the difference is with the upcoming release of, Night of the Hunter and the original release? I have the original release and I want to make sure it's not got some kind of defect or something.

There's nothing wrong with the existing release of The Night of the Hunter, to the best of my knowledge. I've got it, and I love it.

Bit the bullet on my first Chaplin film (City Lights) and Repo Man. Both blind buys for me but it was hard to pass up the price tags. That Zatoichi set is calling my name but I can't seem to do it

the old release was bluray only and the new release will most likely be the old bluray + DVD. (same for breathless)

Glad to own it - love the packaging and the effort they put into creating this set. Excited to delve into it but don't know when I'll have the time!!

It's one of the only films that I've seen that places emphasis on the importance of community with one another than material possessions or anything else. That's honestly the true meaning of family and being together, in my opinion. It's incredibly sad how they all "ended up" together, though.

By the way, I too tend to avoid these type of films as they never seem to be interesting to me, but I definitely have a new appreciation for it and I look forward to watching Late Spring next.

Sorry for all the quotes & I hope I did not miss any. I have watched Late Spring (very good) Good Morning (ok). I have I Was Born, But... & Early Summer still to watch. I had the chance a few years back to watch Tokyo Story but I passed. I will say why and people who have watched can maybe help me out.

I understand all that is said about helping your parents etc when they are old and this film seems to show that

[Show spoiler]the children have moved on with their lives and have no time for their parents. Whilst this is sad I also understand from the children's POV and would hope that the parents would have some understanding too. Is it right for a parent to demand their child's attention ? I don't want this to come across as a criticism but I feel that this is a 2-way street.
