Hate to be a whiny baby, but Under The Skin is not a Criterion and I really want to avoid anything [else] even remotely resembling a spoiler, you're not making it easy. Enough already. No Under The Skin threads?

This is definitely not the first time the thread has gone off on a tangent. It happens all the time here. Just skip over the comments. No one is going to spoil anything.

But just to be nice I will not mention it again because I would not want anyone to think they were spoiled. Although I don't know how you could be based on the nature of the film.

Pro-b, thanks for the review of Like Someone in Love - sadly this film didn't get a theatrical release in this country so I'm itching to see it.

Can I just ask - I couldn't tell from your comments (which may have been on purpose) - do you think the UK or US release is stronger? The only thing I can differentiate much on is the price, which favours the UK one...

Isn't SWIMMER just a short? Seems like a perfect extra for a blu upgrade of RATCATCHER!

My #1 Blu upgrade would be F for Fake. Great opportunity to use the restored version of the promo reel (the DVD uses an abysmal VHS sourced B&W version), include the original Francois Riechenbach documentary.

I saw Blue is the Warmest Color over the weekend and thought it was incredible. I felt that it captured all of the emotions of young love better than any other film in recent memory. The fact that it centers around a lesbian relationship is beside the point. I empathized so much with Adele. So realistic. Takes #7 out of 55 recent CC titles I've seen.

does anyone know what English language movie she goes to see with the boy in the early part of the film?

The dialogue seemed vaguely familiar with me. I googled and looked on IMDB and there is no mention of it.

Glad you liked it! It's one of my favorite films of last year.

RE: The movie they see.

I don't remember off the top of my head what they see, but didn't she like some older actor like Bogart? Maybe they saw one of his films. I can't remember without throwing it in. Sorry!

GEORGE: Did anybody see Firestorm?

MR. ROSS: Firestorm, that's a hell of a picture.

GEORGE: Yeah.

MR. ROSS: Remember when they had the helicopter land on top of that car --

FRANK: Hey! Hey! Come on! Come on! I haven't seen it yet.

MR. ROSS: It doesn't have anything to do with the plot!

FRANK: Still! Still! I like to go in fresh!

To say I liked it would be an understatement. I'd call it one of my favorite new movies of the last 5 years or so. Granted I don't see anywhere close to the number of new releases that most others here do, so take it with a grain of salt, but it wiped me out. When I saw it on Saturday night, I told my wife.. "we won't be watching anything tomorrow." Experiences like that have been few and far between.

Not really familiar with this critic on RT, but his quote sums it up best for me:

Jordan Hoffman from Film.com:

"If you don't see yourself in its depiction of intense emotion I both envy and pity you."
