Regarding Something Wild, I was not a big fan of it either. It's a fun film at times, but I can't say I was blown away by it like most people seem to be. |

I actually rewatched Something Wild just last night. I only picked it up recently, and this was my third watch.
I'm surprised by just how much I like it, given that I'm quite cool on Demme, but I think it's a really fun film, while the third act diversion elevates it in to something with a bit more substance than one might expect from the hijinks of the first half. I went in to it off of the back of its reputation as one of Paul Thomas Anderson's favourite films, and can certainly see a lot of it in his work (the off-kilter tone, the smart cine-literacy that underlines the thing). |

I still need to watch my Blu-ray of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. EDIT: I may have to revise my Best Blu-ray of 2013 choice, though, in light of having seen The Vincent Price Collection last week. Last edited by The Great Owl; 08-04-2014 at 11:58 PM. |

I think it definitely fits as a classic and important film. I love the Godfather, and Part II is possibly my favorite movie of all time. I just can't imagine it in the Collection. I don't know why, but does ANYONE understand what I'm saying?? (My fellow posters who aren't argumentative snobs, help me out here!!)

Well, aside from the connection to StudioCanal, the film's US theatrical release (as well as the initial DVD release) was by Artisan, which was later bought by Lionsgate.

My apologies, that isn't a nice thing to say. When people get argumentative, I find it entertaining. I love the snobs. I think that you're all fantastic. No offense meant guys!
![]() PS I wish that everyone could let things roll off of their backs a little more and take things in jest. |

I also think it's about time for another Jarmusch blu ray as well. Dead Man would be a cool one.

Yesterday I watched King of the Hill/The Underneath BD & extras. Nice release. Funny how Soderbergh basically bashes The Underneath in the interview for the film
Today I watched Persona and all of its extras. What a great release, and an amazing transfer. Well worth the $21 for a blind buy. |

Recently somebody here asked about films in the collection that take place on a particular date.
I don't know if anyone mentioned this one, but Cleo from 5 to 7 takes place on June 21. |

I watched Zodiac* tonight and enjoyed it. You can really see Fincher's directing trademarks in his films because of the camera work and the filters his films have.
*This relates to Criterion because David Fincher directed The Game which was released by Criterion. |

I'm surprised it's not OOP yet. Maybe there is a chance, but I'm inclined to think no, given that it's been released on Blu-Ray through Sony. I imagine that the distribution rights may not allow Criterion to do a Blu-Ray edition, even though they seem to still be able to print the DVD edition. I could be wrong, who knows?

It WAS owned by MGM as an Orion film, but now that neither one is around, it may have reverted back to a private Handmade Film. Which makes Criterion more of a possibility.
