Thanks alot. Are you going to get the MoC Mabuse or try to ask Criterion on facebook first?

I'll probably wait until Mabuse goes down a little. Just went to XE.com to figure out the pricing and it's around $47...I tend to like to strike when Amazon has the occasional sales.

I will prob break down and buy Seven Samurai on blu, but if it's in Nov and that New Hollywood set comes out too, I might have to wait on Seven Samurai, being that set might cost $150.

Masculin Féminin is prob my most watched Godard from the collection. I hope it doesn't fall victim to the OOP announcements anytime soon. This & Band Of Outsiders is prob Criterion's 2 biggest Godard's left for blu. I hope they make the right choice.

They updated the aspect ratio on Thin Red Line to 2.35:1.

Ok. What do you guys do with your old DVDs? I have Yojimbo, Sanjuro on DVD and im wondering if im gonna keep them or sell them now that Im ordering the Blus. I also have Seven Samurai and Breathless on DVD, and both are coming out on Blu soon. The DVD releases of those two are really amazing. 7 Samurai is a beautiful 3-disk edition.

This is what I get for being hung over, I'm totally late to the party lol.

Thin Red Line - As we knew was happening, is still awesome.
Breathless - In short, thank god I saw this announcement before I made a trip to Barnes N Noble today and bought the dvd edition. Now I can hold off till September for the Blu-ray.
Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence - Looks like a lot of people are excited about this. I'll have to check it out.
Charade - Another one I've heard of, but never seen. Have to check it out.

Overall, very happy with these releases. The Thin Red Line and Breathless are epic. Still no Seven Samurai announcement, which, as it's my all time favorite film, is a little disappointing, even though I know it will eventually be out before the year is over. Disappointing, but inevitable. Looks like it will be a holiday release after all.

If I upgrade to a Criterion Blu, I sell them.

If I upgrade to a non-Criterion Blu (such as Traffic), I sometimes keep the Criterion, or I sometimes sell them.

Studio Superfluous deserves poor sales because frankly, they're terrible. I'm one who will not settle for "it's not sooo bad" transfers.

The Award for Best Criterion Push of a Director this year goes to:

Nagisa Oshima

And what a great choice.

Atleast he is funny. Taking back movies from Criterion isn't funny.

I don't see how the Criterion release is really going to effect sales of the UK SC Breathless BD... The Criterion release will be region locked, so only the handful of region free UK importers will have a choice in the matter. For everyone else, it'll be SC's way or the highway. And if you're referring to US/Canadian consumers who would have imported SC's Breathless, and now won't because of the Criterion disc - again, completely minuscule in number, totally irrelevant to the bottom line.
