Would love to finally see some Josef von Sternberg on Blu Ray. The Scarlet Empress upgrade, or maybe Morocco, Dishonored, or Shanghai Express? Come to think of it, a von Sternberg/Dietrich box set would be a dream come true.

We've had A LOT of new releases, wonder if December will focus on upgrades?

I too would love it if Mulholland Drive will be announced. I would also love it if Polanski's The Tenant will be announced today. However I doubt Criterion would release a Lynch or Polanski title so soon. I truly hope I'm wrong though.

I expect Chaplin, Kar Wai, or even an Ozu would probably get a mention. However the one I'm still waiting for, as many others are, is Melville's Le Samourai It has been over three years since one of his films was released by Criterion on blu ray. I know that the three films that are available came out within three months of each other, but still...

Correct me if I'm wrong - and I hope I am - but we don't have any reason to believe Criterion has THE TENANT, do we? Other than the fact that they've released other Polanski titles? Or is there a more solid hint that I've missed?

There was some speculation that the apartment building in the 2013 New Year's Day clue represented Polanski's The Tenant, but that's debatable.

Didn't they release it on iTunes?

I forgot about Watership Down. I'm changing my predictions to:

Midnight Cowboy
Fellini Satyricon
Watership Down
Hiroshima, mon amour

From the ones that were mentioned I would be in for Watership Down and His Girl Friday.

Of course, nothing of my dream list ever makes it to Criterion:
Raise the Red Lantern
Farewell my Concubine
Indochine
Cyrano (1990)
Death in Venice
The Tree of Life
Magnificent Obsession
Written on the Wind

The remake is a good film, but I think that it over-explains certain narrative details, whereas the original benefits from certain ambiguities about the lead character's background.
Oh, that's right. It is Norwegian. Stellan being in it had me thinking Swedish.

I wonder what's holding up In a Lonely Place.

It's been what? Two years since Twilight Time said they asked for it but somebody else already had it?

Obviously, that 'somebody else' doesn't have to be Criterion but whoever has it has been sitting on it for a while now.

Oh, and that reminds me...whoever has Gilda should get off their asses too. When TCM released The Lady from Shanghai I kind of thought that made them the more likely outlet for Gilda but I'm starting to rethink that.

I was just going to say that! Any of the following would get my heart rate up:

In a Lonely Place
Watership Down
Mulholland Dr
Blue is the Warmest Color SE

I'm probably forgetting some, but Don't Look Now, The Kid, and Midnight Cowboy would be cool too.

Oh man, I'd just about sell my soul for a Criterion edition of In a Lonely Place.

It also goes without saying that I want an announcement of more Jules Dassin stuff (Brute Force, The Naked City, Thieves' Highway, Night and the City).

The fact that it's a currently OOP Paramount title (who have a history with Criterion) and that's it's part of a "trilogy" that has seen two of its entries released already, makes me think it's more a matter of 'when' than 'if'.
