I really like Red Desert and La notte, but for some reason i was not very fond of L'eclisse, so which of the two others in the trilogy would you say it is more like?
If you liked Red Desert and La Notte, I absolutely think it's a very safe blind-buy. It is the best of the alienation trilogy.

Borrowed, means I downloaded it, watched it, deleted it, then went and bought a copy from B&N at full price (plus duty, exchange, and shipping, as it was coming to Nova Scotia). To me, that's borrowing because I went out and bought a legal copy afterwards. Didn't have a VPN client or Hulu at the time, nor did Netflix even exist in Canada. YouTube didn't have a copy, and nor did any of my local libraries have it at the time. They do now, but it's only the DVD. Watching it, not buying and keeping it on a HDD to watch again and again is stealing. I borrowed the film to watch it, and then went and paid for it. But, that's just my logic.

You seem to imply that a VPN client would make it any better; it's still illegal to use it to get around regional locks, but less overtly so. Same with a Youtube upload, unless uploaded by an owner of the copyright.

You are still stealing it. Paying for it later does not make a difference whatsoever. If you don't like it, do you still go out and buy it?

I don't download anymore, because I have Netflix now, and, as pointed out, the library now actually stocks the stuff to check it out. Blu-rays have also come down in price.

I'm also not the only one of this forum who uses a VPN client to access things like the BBC and iPlayer.

For my Halloween viewing I decided to go for La Belle et la Bete rather than anything with more overt Halloween elements. What a beautiful film! Both dreamlike and rustically funny. The beast's castle was fantastic - I loved the imagination and invention. The score is excellent - don't laugh but somehow I thought it was a silent! Probably because of the alternate soundtracks...

Looking forward to working through all the supplements and especially the Glass score.

I've only seen with the glass opera and thought it was pure perfection.

Not seen with the standard track though - but you NEED to see it with the opera soundtrack - it's bliss! His opera adds to the themes and is so enchanting, I can't imagine it without it tbh!

I have such an unhealthy anger towards people - films not even started and people already getting on my nerves lol hate how people ruin the cinematic experience down to ignorance and lack of respect.

Well, yeah, I didn't say that. But that doesn't make it right.

Good to know Polaroid! I was actually surprised at how beautiful the score by Auric is but am definitely going to give the opera a go too.

I love Philip Glass's music - back in the 80s I used to travel to London for his operas at the Colosseum, Akhnaten and The Making of the Representative for Planet 8.

I went in to Nightcrawler completely blind. I try to avoid trailers and even a synopsis before seeing a film when possible.

Yeah, you were smart. The trailers ruin way too much. I'm glad I saw it once months ago and forgot about it, and haven't seen any TV spots or stuff since. Made it much more enjoyable, although I will say I saw a couple things coming.

Yah I saw trailers and they contain way to many spoilers for this film.

I felt it was decent film, jake was brilliant as were the other actors.

I found the score let the film down at times and I think the film could have done better with 30 minutes to an hour added to it. But worth seeing I would say.

Also why do people go to cinema on a date just to talk all through entire film and ruin for others? Why do they think they have the right to waste other peoples money and do this? People need to learn some respect and also, shaking popcorn and eating it as loud as you can with mouth open is also really disrespectful.

These people really ruined the film for me and found it hard to get absorbed into the film - but yeah if you get to see it in an empty cinema it will be great haha.

So, is Birdman getting the CC treatment? It has to considering that movies' influences and the movies in the collection.

That doesn't necessarily mean that it will enter the Collection. lol.

It's a FOX distributed title and it will more than likely be put out by them accordingly.

Nuts. Well I hope they don't screw it up. This film is begging for extras, there is so much going on.

I might go to my local arthouse theater and check out Birdman tonight. This looks like an awesome film.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and the fact I think it should be in the collection is enough to warrant a watch.

Peeping Tom is indeed a great film. I might be alone but I find elements of it to be hilarious. How did you like Nightcrawler? I'm going to catch it tomorrow, looks awesome
