It's probably just a matter of time before Criterion upgrades these two. That's what I keep telling myself anyway.
Darn, Owl! I thought with you buying it the upgrade was a sure thing! I keep waiting for it and the other two Mark Hellinger produced films-Brute Force and The Naked City to get the upgrade nod but....no dice!

She insisted I pay $53 to exchange it, and right before the point she could tell I was going to lose it, she called a manager to "explain to me the exchange policies". The manager came and told her she was wrong and quickly gave me the new box set. I quickly left the store to avoid an unpleasant confrontation.
This has happened to me a few times in the past, and I had to deal with the manager to solve it, too. It's pretty absurd, but apparently it's due to the fact that B&N online it's a different company than the brick and mortar branches. It would make sense if I tried to get a refund for the full store price when I paid a lower price online, of course, but when all you want to do is exchange a damaged item for one in good condition, it's quite kafkaesque.

That's why now, when any B&N online order arrives damaged, I don't even bother to try and argue with any associate at store. I simply locate a copy in good condition, buy it at store price and make sure of keeping the receipt, and then return the damaged, online copy at the same store for a refund for the full price using that receipt.

Again, it's absurd that company's policy forces you to do that, but it's easier than trying to reason with them.

Last night's movie was Head-On. It's a German-Turkish film from 2003. It's an awesome movie that was recommended by pro-bassoonist back on November 21 (from his list of movies). Sibel Kekilli was amazing and I enjoyed this film from beginning to end. I wish there was a blu-ray release, because I'd add this one to my collection without hesitation.

Sorry to hear - If you want to watch other peoples pain then check out Autumn Sonata to, powerful an emotional film. When I'm down I hate seeing others happy o I watch depressing films lol.

Antichrist sounds perfect for the situation chin up!

Nope, you have company. I watched it on Netflix and I'll give it its due as a well-made, terrifically acted film but one viewing was sufficient for me. Same with Fat Girl, In the Realm..., Salo, and Sweet Movie. All were films I wanted to see but thankfully I didn't purchase.

If you are looking for a good movie about loneliness, then I will kindly direct you to Tarkovsy's Solaris, which is also available on a splendid Criterion Blu-ray. This film brings up the valid question about whether or not we truly love the other people in our lives, as opposed merely to loving our idealized perceptions of these people.

Fat Girl is pretty intense, but I'm not sure I would put it in the same class as those others.

OTOH, it is a Breillat movie, so ... maybe you're right.

YOUR THOUGHTS......

Ok, so I watched Antichrist for the first time...for my lose...and let me tell you...boy was it a PERFECT pick.

So how I analyzed this film:

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!....

She seems to be taking to the therapy and slowly progressing to getting better. Then "kind of" out of nowhere she turns drastically for the worse. And as she starts causing Him great pain and anguish..he starts to fight back. And after all the pain she inflicted on him. Which mind you...He was nothing but good to her the whole movie..he perseveres and comes out ok in the end.
Or maybe I'm wrong?
But I guess I'm looking at it through how the end of my relationship happened.

Your thoughts..

Just because
[Show spoiler]of the way it ended. That sequence came out of nowhere and was so jolting that it basically swung me from a "I might want to buy this" to a "No thank you!" opinion in just a few seconds. I didn't expect a happy ending and there was a sense of doom that took over once they got in the car but what happened came way out of left field.
