I had the same impression. Those look like masks.

I was really hoping that one was intended to be a hockey mask, but that does not look to be the case at all.

It appears that way, especially due to the back head of the furthest individual. Furthermore, they also look like they have Xs over their mouths.
Yeah I see the X's too, hmm

I was thinking that, but doesn't the individual in that film push a coffee cart around? The individual in the drawing appears older and his cart seems to be loaded with ceramics.

Definite possibility, I've been looking at Yakuza stills, probably way off!

I'd be shocked if the Ghibli's were a thing. I think people just got it into their heads that one thing could be Ghibli and now they're grasping at straws.

Since they said last month more Anderson and Malick were coming in 2015, I'd say Moonrise Kingdom and The New World are absolute. Same with Fisher King, also already confirmed.

Inside Llewyn Davis-I just bought that damn thing too, but that's clearly a drawing of the guy.

The more that I look at the big clock, the more that I think that it's The Big Clock.

One, Two, Three might be a stretch.

First thing I thought of was some Yakuza film, like something from Suzuki. That was before I noticed the masks though. No idea

Great observation! I never would have gotten that on my own. Do you think it could represent Ted Tetzlaff''s film noir, The Window (1949)? That film is in dire need of restoration and would make a great addition to the Collection. Like the forthcoming Ride the Pink Horse, it's part of Turner library.

Of course, I'd really love to see Fritz Lang's The Woman in the Window get the Criterion treatment ...

The New World could be both cuts or just the theatrical?
Or maybe just the extended again?

Inside Lewyn Davis?!?!

Hell yeah!

Glad to see New World may be happening sooner than later.

I do not think the moon is moonrise kingdom though.

The figure looks like Nausicaä, it makes zero sense, but I wouldn't call it grasping at straws. I feel the same way about ILD, doesn't make any sense, but there it is.

Maybe Criterion after Watership Down, decided to open up in the animation world and offer us great animation films??

Frankly, I see all the speculation and really hope that there are not re-releases of the films posted. The Wes films I can understand, but Inside LLewyn Davis?? That would simply be silly, as the one released months ago seemed perfectly fine, but then again, these are wishes..

i would love to have a ghibli in the criterion collection.
but i dont really think we need that, there are already plenty of decent releases avaible. worldwide !

but i wouldnt say no to a other anime classic. or maybe korean animation (i dont see that happen really)

My wishes for this year:

Cronenberg Upgrades
Kurosawa Upgrades (give me Ikiru and red Beard and im gonna shut up for the rest of the year)
Bergman (boxset)
Stalker (since AE in the UK is gonna release a boxset)
When A women ascends the stairs

If the car on the bridge is Two for the Road, they have Albert Finney driving in the wrong seat.

I'm trying to figure out what this is supposed to represent. I keep thinking it's referencing Ozu's Floating Weeds, but that's likely because it's one of my fav. films and I've been waiting for Criterion to upgrade it
