So what are the predictions for the April releases? I would like to see at least one of the following (all newly available in the UK but "Region B" locked):

Darling (1965)
The Gang's All Here (1943)
Sullivan's Travels (1941)
Two For The Road (1967)

Also hoping, since Criterion released so much Antonioni recently and appears to now have access to certain Warner titles, that they will release Blow-Up (1966). Two other Warner titles I'd love to see from them are Day for Night (1973) and Death in Venice (1971).

If I was a betting man, I'd bet that one of the 4 you listed will be an April announcement. Sullivan's Travels would be my guess.

If you look at it in terms of the physical it's easy to say it's too much. Heck, even 100 seems "too much". The way to look at is a source of enrichment. Movies are a gateway to music, novels, cultures, food, etc.

We've been married for 35 years now so we both know, regardless of what, or how adamant, the other says something, there's a certain amount of ..........."well ok" built into it. Gotta be flexible! Honestly, she's put up with every home theater format I've gone through from the Stone Age (16mm and Super 8mm) to todays Blu-Ray. My closets are full of old formats.

These Oscar noms could be potential Criterion releases in the near or not so near future!

Speaking of Oscars, I finally got to watch The Imitation Game after whining about the lack of accessiblity through the local cinema chain. I'm even more pissed at Cineplex right now, because they brought it to a single theatre province wide Christmas Day that is not very accessible, and finally released it into two more theatres last Friday, only to have the film go out of theatres completely this Friday. WTFF?!? It's a fantastic film, and Keira Knightley really surprised me. Hell, even my mother really enjoyed it, and she is not a fan of Benedict Cumberbatch (she hates Sherlock, I think I might be adopted). It's worth seeing. I feel vaugely insulted by Cineplex because all of the films I usually want to see have limited releases such as this, in very few theatres. The Theory of Everything is another one that's ridicuously hard to see around here as well, and if there's anything not in English, forget it. Sorry for ranting, but I'm sure there are others around here who feel the same way.

I want One, Two, Three to be announced, as I really hope the Clock represents that film. It's my favourite Billy Wilder film.

The opening credits ape Pierrot Le Fou's. I saw a lot of All That Jazz in there too (in fact, it inspired the title of my review of Birdman, Owl That Jazz), and Opening Night.

I want SOME film that fits that clue to be announced. I hate having a clue that could be read as at least three different films :P

But what if it *is* a clue for 3 different films? Even if they announce one we still won't know!

I'll stop wondering when one is announced. If others appear it will be a nice bonus. I am happy with any of the three possibilities too, so that helps.

Heh, not me. I'll stop hoping it's The Big Clock when The Big Clock is announced.

(that's not to say I don't want One, Two Three...I just really want The Big Clock)

New member. First post for me! Joined because of the discourse about the Criterion pic. I actually wrote a suggestion to Criterion in November about 6 paragraphs long requesting Two for the Road (big Audrey Hepburn fan, my picture is evidence). No word back, guess no news is good news? Anyone else ever try a suggestion?

The Big Clock is my preferred choice, I must admit.

I've seen a couple of people post that they get a response sometimes, something along the lines of, 'I love that film and will pass it along to the team.' or the like.

I don't know if that always happens though.

I've probably done a handful or so with two or three responses back.

Yep, and I think there's a few 8 1\2 moments too.

Just received my B&N Criterion batch.

I may view The Big Chill tonight.
Would you recommend the mono audio or the 5.1?

(i have seen the film once on DVD)

I'm a big fan of original audio mixes but Criterion generally shows a lot of restraint with their remixes and the soundtrack is such a huge part of the film I'll almost certainly go with the 5.1 track when I get around to it.

It really should sound great.
