Hopefully more Sturges on the way
I'll wait until it's actually reviewed before I make comparisons with a previous release. It as a 2k transfer, so hopefully it will be an improvement.

Totally agree. I personally found the film slow and tedious, but its a shame Criterion are releasing this, especially since the MoC edition is region free.

Definitely in for Odd Man Out and, if it's an improvement or equivalent to the Arrow edition, Sullivan's Travels.

Likewise, but doesnt seem like it will be worth a double dip in the slightest. I'll be interested to see what the reviews say! Already have the Melville as well, so although these are great films can't get too excited personally

The Friends of Eddie Coyle is another story though! Awesome!!!

This entrancing first color feature from Jean Renoir—shot entirely on location in India—is a visual tour de force. Based on the novel by Rumer Godden, the film eloquently contrasts the growing pains of three young women with the immutability of the holy Bengal River, around which their daily lives unfold. Enriched by Renoir’s subtle understanding of and appreciation for India and its people, The River gracefully explores the fragile connections between transitory emotions and steadfast creation.
