I really hope Make Way for Tomorrow uses a much better transfer then the MoC release. I'll gladly double dip. I think this is an excellent slate of films.

Definitely Limelight. Wish the Costa-Gavras was Missing.

So many better films from the 70s than THE ROSE. Don't remember it being very good at all.

I've got good news then, because the one you're looking for is Missing.

Thank you, here all week, etc.

I like that we get two more classic Costa-Gavras films on BLU but yeah I want Z upgraded to BLU so BAD!

Agreed. I haven't been excited about an announcement since Time Bandits back in September. I guess I just don't like obscure foreign art films for the most part.

And I think its reasons like your dismissal of State of Siege that are the reason they don't do so many upgrades! It's so much more important these unknown gems of films get out there than to simply bring out the old standards.
I don't think my saying "both of these sound interesting, and I may purchase both" was a dismissal of the film... I'd just prefer that Z, one of the best films of the 60s, got upgraded to Blu first.

It's frustrating that Z happened to fall into that odd time frame when Criterion had started putting out Blu-rays, but had not 100% committed to the format, so it received a DVD-only release... stupid format war!

It's worth it if only for the opportunity to see Chaplin and Keaton perform together.

Fassbinder and Chaplin are not obscure. The Fassbinder film is better than any Lynch movie.

I'm thrilled that Make Way for Tomorrow is receiving a well-deserved upgrade, and anxious to revisit The Rose, which I haven't seen in over 30 years. The two Costa-Gavras films are also of interest me; I'm just now learning to appreciate Yves Montand, who stars in both. Overall, although there are other titles I wish had been announced, I'm kind of excited by the May slate.

Well, this not a single thing I'm interested in, again. Oh well. It's not like I don't have enough to watch as it is.

*sigh*

Definite buys in LIMELIGHT and MERCHANT for me.

Pass on the Costa's-I'm really not the biggest fan, though I like MISSING quite a bit.

Love MAKE WAY, but will not be upgrading.

Hard pass on THE ROSE.

or never.

it's not coming. unless I missed something (which is possible and in that case, please fill me in ,) the logic that the clock was in reference to this movie is a pretty far stretch

Great news finally another Chaplin, also intrigued by Costa-Gavras films, i don't think i have seen any of his, will probably end up getting the Fassbinder too, too bad i already have the Moc edition of Make Way for Tomorrow, but at least it has the exact same extras, so no problem.
