YMMV...I just called my local B & N store and he confirmed with me, that (as far as his store was concerned), that the sale was NOT starting today, but would proceed tomorrow as planned.

Maybe "online" has started early?

I think Criterion accidentally pre-tweeted or was mistaken. Last time, the "sale" was up hours before the first day, but B&N did not upload the prices until overnight. I'd assume the process is repeating itself.

I'm lucky enough to have a birthday during the sale, so Criterion Blu-rays and the Rossellini War Trilogy are practically all I asked for. I'll just buy what I don't get as birthday presents, since I've decided to collect all the Criterion Blu-ray releases. And I have to get them all from Gomorrah to possibly The Secret of the Grain if it's included except for Revanche which I bought from Criterion.

I've made the mistake of jumping too early in the past..... and since this is a sale, and not a "pricing error" it will be valid until Aug. 1st, so I'm going to sit back, let people figure out what coupons/site-portals etc... lead to the best deals, and once it's figured out, I'll place my large order.....

Too many times I've jumped on a coupon code during a sale, and after getting shipping notification, I see someone post "you can also use code ABCXYZ to get free shipping, or 10% more off" etc. etc.

So you have to buy the player then buy that chip to modify it?

I to have been looking to go region free....mostly for the MOC titles, and some BFI....but I remember reading that some region free players were locked after a firmware update.

Can anyone recommend a good region free player?
