And DVD (still in print) as well.

Same here. Except for new releases -- and even then, only the High Profile releases like the Hobbit films, the Marvel films, Interstellar, and the like -- my local Wally World is largely DVD-only.

I'm really excited about The Killers announcement since I've resisted the urge to get the dvd set in the past and was getting to the point where I felt it wasn't going to happen and contented myself with a off-air TCM recording. Now I need to begin being patient all over again for the other Mark Hellinger titles in the Collection-Brute Force and The Naked City.

I have seen only Five Easy Pieces and Last Picture Show from that set, and I want to buy the first when it gets released.

Oh baby, Hiroshima mon amour has me incredibly excited. It looks like a good release, and I love that movie. I've been hoping for an upgrade for a while now.

For July, I will be getting Limelight, Blue is the Warmest Color (not hopeful for the purported special edition), and An Autumn Afternoon. I may also get Il Sorpasso, which I liked.

Suggestions for another title, amongst the following, would be appreciated:

La Vie de Boheme
In the Mood for Love
Here is Your Life
Sundays and Cybele
The River

Pick two! Thanks.

Oh wait, I can't be part of it, I now have pre-orders ordered tracking into July.

PS: No offense to anyone who actually attends an Anonymous group, it is a lame attempt at humor.

As much as I like Wes Anderson, I doubt I'll "upgrade" to the Criterion release so none of the July titles interest me.

What films would interest me?

Fellini titles, especially Juliet of the Spirits (celebrating its 50th anniversary unfortunately very quietly so far this year), Nights of Cabiria, Ginger & Fred, La Strada, etc.

Hirokazu Koreeda titles, especially Maboroshi no Hikari and Afterlife.

Bela Tarr titles, especially Werckmeister Harmonies and Almanac of Fall.

Kieslowski's early works in a giant box set or at the very least a set for The Decalogue.

Roy Andersson's entire catalog, but I'm glad that Artificial Eye will be releasing four of his films on Blu-ray this summer (and that I have a region free player).

Errol Morris titles, especially Fast, Cheap, and Out of Control as well as Mr. Death.

Claire Denis titles, especially Trouble Every Day in time for October.

Zhang Yimou titles, especially To Live, Raise the Red Lantern, and The Story of Qiu-Ju.

Plenty of fantastic film noir and classic titles if the studios won't bother releasing them, especially In a Lonely Place, The Big Sleep, To Have and Have Not, Roman Holiday, The Trial, and The Country Girl

Plus lots of other gorgeous films from more recent years that deserve to be on Blu-ray like Birth, Chicken with Plums, The Lovers on the Bridge; Distant Voices, Still Lives; and City of Lost Children.

There's no shortage of films I'd like to see on Blu-ray, but there's definitely a shortage of companies who seem to want to release them so I understand the frustration when one of the few who might likely release such titles focus on titles that don't particularly interest me. I also completely understand that other people may hate my tastes and be very happy with the current offerings.

Since you bothered to purchase Hiroshima... on DVD it appears that you have more than just a passing interest in the film, so I can't see how you can be set with the DVD. Especially since this is a brand new 4K restoration that truly allows one to experience (and appreciate) the film in an entirely new way.

I haven't seen The River and Here is Your Life, so i can only recommend Sundays and Cybele, not sure if you have seen a film called Rapture with the same child actress, that is good but this is even better

Speaking of In the Mood for Love, I really wish Criterion could release Days of Being Wild at some point.

I would take 2046 over DOBW.

[Show spoiler]The Black Stallion has a rather haunting first half hour or so, but not in a way that tugs at our emotions regarding animals. The conclusion of the movie is quite inspirational and happy from a sports/horse racing perspective, if I remember correctly, although there are a few emotional speedbumps on the way. There is a leg injury involved in the climax, but it all ends well.

[Show spoiler]Because The Boy's Father's death has left his wife destitute, and Henry won't keep The Black indefinitely without some money, they enter The Black in The Race at Santa Anita. He wins, of course. And the purse just about pays for the liability suits, because The Boy feeding The Black sugar cubes on The Ship is what drove The Black into a rage, resulting in the fire on board and the sinking of the vessel with a loss of all hands and the whole cargo.

So ... just before The Black is sold to L'Usine de Colle to pay off the lawsuits, a millionaire secretly buys him for a $1m (swearing Henry and The Boy to secrecy), renames him War Admiral, and races him in prestige races in the east. They all live happily ever after, but wait ... there's a new horse in the west ... and his name ... is ... Seabiscuit.

You may've seen the sequel a couple of years ago.

Don't worry. You may be made of steel, but if you're like me, there are parts of The Black Stallion that will get you choked up anyway. It's a beautiful film, and I do not say such things lightly. It is truly one of the few "blind buys" from Criterion that I think most sensitive film lovers will be happy with.

Now if they'd just get Never Cry Wolf from Disney....
