Some people seem to be unable to be just happy with what's there without starting another complaint.

That's the Criterion way! They could have announced they'd found The Magnificent Ambersons and folk would complain about the colour of the font used on the packaging.

It is out of place :P Man we are so fussy haha!

I really thought they would go all out with Mulholland Dr (Look at that artwork for THE BROOD and KWAIDEN!)

It has put a little downer on the announcement for me, and I know the artwork doesn't affect the film and I'm over the moon we have new supplements and new transfer, just wish the entire package was its best.

This designer really got it right with Breaking the Waves and Don't Look Now (which I was a fan of to start with).

I don't man to be fussy, but Criterion ha always been about the entire package and it just bugs me when they let the release down in a certain area - I'm still happy about the release and won't stop me buying it

Not a fan of the cover art for The Brood.

The announcement this month is excellent, though. A lot of amazing films selected by Criterion.

I actually think Mulholland Dr. is the scariest film I've ever seen. The scene in the diner never fails to get me.

I feel exactly the same as you. I'm ecstatic about the announcement and it's a definite day 1 for me but the cover does spoil it a little bit. Hard to believe it's the same artist as those other two (both beautiful, especially Breaking the Waves).

Breaking The Waves is one of my favourite releases from Criterion.

The nailed it with the transfer and the packaging/artwork was PERFECT and really represented the film. You just look at the beautiful artwork and it really draws you into the mood of the film and makes you want to watch it even more - then you put the disc in and get greeted by the tragic theme music with the stunning chapter images.

Damn... I need to watch Breaking the Waves haha.

Fanboyism is terribly annoying and that is no less true for a title just because I was looking forward to it, but I'll come out of my posting slumber - on announcement day, no less - and state that I am, indeed excited that Criterion is finally releasing Mulholland Drive. This new 4K restoration should look something special, and the soundtrack should be no slouch either (it's not bad on the SC blu, for sure).

Speaking of the SC blu, I'll be keeping that one as it has some neat extras that won't make it onto Criterion's package it looks like. Fat chance of "MORE to come" meaning the pilot version's inclusion, but I'll be crossing my fingers.

Won't even wait for some discount or sale this time. Needless to say, from where I type this is the Criterion announcement of the year for me. Carry on.

This happened. And guess what -- the internet did explode. Even my non-Criterion geek friends are gushing about it all over social media.

I don't like it either. Samantha Eggar in a Snuggie?

The Apu Trilogy, The Before Trilogy, New World, Lewyn Davis and Clouds of Sils Maria could all come before the end of the year.

The next two months are going to be wild.
