1. a moot point

4. then say something about the people who felt the need to defend Christopher Nolan and Ridley Scott. because THOSE posts are feeding the troll

put you on my 'ignore' list? really? when I can fend off a non-sensical post like yours with the same ease in which I'd swat a fly? no thanks. I'm good.

I didn't want to jump into this debate about A Clockwork Orange, Ridley Scott, and Christopher Nolan but I shall.

Bob has many points I agree with. There is a certain segment (normally young males) that tend to flock to A Clockwork Orange and Nolan films. I don't hate either Clockwork or Nolan films but I don't particularly love them either. I DO find A Clockwork Orange childish and the 3rd act meandering. I wholeheartedly disagree about Ridley Scott as I find Blade Runner and Alien to both be among my favorite films, despite his diminishing talent of late. I appreciate that Bob has strong opinions, which is generally lacking in society on any number of topics. I think the problem here (and I've been guilty of it) is attacking people for having differing opinions. Slamming a film or overly praising a film shows passion, but it need not be directed at others.

he does not have "strong" opinions. he referred to "a certain segment of fans" as idiots and had another post, that I now notice has been removed, in which he basically acknowledges that it is "fun" to rile up people.

maybe that is tolerable on other threads, but on this thread where 99% of the time people behave maturely, it is not. I don't want to have to read through that s**t.

Not at all Ray (the object of your response) Perhaps I should just read and not respond as I'm apparently unintelligible.

He does have strong opinions clearly. If you read my post, I said it need not be directed at others, which is essentially what you are saying.

That's not really all that clear. Where one person might see strong opinions, another might see histrionic playacting.

I just thought of writing a brilliant screenplay based on "Jon Mulvaney", about a classy video distribution company (ie. Criterion) and how legions of fans are fooled into thinking that the person in charge of customer service is a real person who we can address in sending letters and returns to.

If this screenplay ever gets picked up by a director, I could only hope the film lands in the Criterion Collection, esp. seeing that its based on them. HA.

Jack Elam would have appreciated a Chicago fly-swatter.

(Yes, I know this is off-topic, but it's not every day you can throw OUATITW into a fly-swatting conversation.)

I am certain that Criterion has a portal on the 7 1/2th floor that allows them to see through Mulvaney's eyes. They probably have to take turns "Being" Mulvaney, probably about an hour at a time. I've also heard that Mulvaney is quite the puppeteer.

I have a feeling that movie would be nothing but a man shouting curse words at his computer screen all day while forced to type niceties in emails to finicky (and probably occasionally rude) film collectors.

Or maybe ... just maybe ... Jon Mulvaney is ...

Jon Mulvaney is an anagram for a long-delayed Criterion title.

Yes, he's pulling all our strings. He might actually be a robot or android or replicant of some kind and Criterion will unveil "him" in time. It will be a huge sensation and people will travel from all around the world to go to the Criterion hq in NYC to see the Mulvaney-droid! You, sir, already had a sneak peek!

Maybe Mulvaney is the collective cinema consciousness of mankind, aside from being a droid!

The greatest trick Jon Mulvaney ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

Just found out that the french actor, in Close encounters of the third kind (my favourite science fiction film of all time, btw) francois truffaut is a reknowned french director/writer... and one of his movies that I've seen thrown around here quite a bit, the 400 blows, is directed by him!! I feel like I've discovered something special and sweet.

is the 400 blows worth a blind buy? I keep hearing nothing but good things about that movie. and also, any other movies directed by him, or even films hes acted in, that you'd suggest I pick up?

oh, and I picked up like, 8 criterion films this week. I have too much to watch now... and most of my movie collection so far consists of classic criterion releases... I feel a bit alienated at my OWN movie collection believe it or not... haha...
