Last I heard they have the rights to Stalker and Mirror, but you'd think they'd have moved by now. I'm hoping that the rights have expired and gone to a company that will do justice with their releases. Kino does a fine job and I own many of their discs, but Tarkovsky needs to be on Criterion.

I arrange them alphabetically.
Alphabetization is for sissies.

I'm not sure about Mirror, but I believe that Stalker was licensed from RusCiCo (Russian Cinema Council). So Kino might not still have the rights.

No, I just put them by Year of release, when I look for something to watch I use this website instead of looking at my physical copies, so I can sort however I feel like.

Or maybe not. I sure got a little sissified last night, watching Eyes Without a Face! When the film first started, I thought, "Oh this is fun! A good, old-fashioned corny horror movie!" A little further into the film, as Alida Valli started to seem a little sinister, and with Maurice Jarre's bizarre score pounding in my head, I was reminded a little bit of Dario Argento's Suspiria, which also featured Valli and a nerve-wracking musical soundtrack.

Then I got to a certain scene
[Show spoiler]... the surgery scene ...
and after first guffawing at how fake and overly simplistic it looked, I ended up actually getting a little nauseated and very creeped out! I wasn't expecting anything that graphic at all. I kept waiting for the camera to cut away and the scene to end, and was shocked when it didn't. Very well done, indeed, and it scared the beejeebers out of me.

I ended up loving the film and I enjoyed all the supplements, except the one that I saved for last, Franju's short documentary, Blood of the Beasts. I watched about two minutes of it, and then when I realized I where Franju was taking me, I realized I just couldn't go there and had to turn it off. I went and spent some time with my little Black Lab instead.

Anyway, I highly recommend Eyes Without a Face. And I wish Criterion would get the rights to Suspiria away from Synapse Films. They've been sitting on it for quite a while now, and it richly deserves a Region A release.

Absolutely not!
You should search for the exact date of release, and order them accordingly!

My Criterion's are in spine number (and on their own bookshelf). For everything else, I first alphabetize by the studio who released the film on Blu-ray (20th Century Fox -> Warner Bros.), and then within the studio I go chronological.

I dont have too many physical discs yet but I have my regular cases in one section and the digipacks and other over sized stuff in another spot. And yet another spot for my disney and a seperate one for the standard blu packaging that most releases get.

I honestly don't think I have any of those. I don't collect too many series other than TV (which is so tiny that I go by production company ABC -> NBC, and then alphabetized within the company; for example Desperate Housewives, Lost, The Muppet Show, Ugly Betty). For film series, though, I do place the entire series together rather than in complete chronological order (for example, all four films of the Pirates of the Caribbean series go in between Hocus Pocus [1993] and John Carter of Mars [2012], which, incidentally, they all fit perfectly between those for production order anyway).

The Buena Vista (Disney) section is the weirdest one of the bunch. The animated films go first (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs -> Big Hero 6), then live-action, then Pixar, then Studio Ghibli (the GKids releases of the Studio Ghibli films follow quickly after under the "G" studios), all in chronological order within those sections.

Hoping Inside Llewyn Davis on Tuesday! Given its setting in the Northeast in winter, seems like a good release for December.

Would anyone else be excited about an upgrade for Coup de Torchon?

After watching Philippe Noiret in La Grande Bouffe a few weeks ago it got me thinking that I'd love to see Tavernier's classic in HD.

My dream list for this week's announcements:

Coup de Torchon
Barton Fink
Le Samourai
Speedy
Peeping Tom

I'd be delighted if even one of those got announced.

Actually Synapse have not been just sitting on Suspiria. They've been making extensive restoration for two years now.

Here's a link to a post about the project: http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news...tion/#/slide/1

They assure: “We are busting our asses to put out the best version of SUSPIRIA since the first prints were struck back in ’77, and we will not rush it to make a release date.“

Seems promising.

I'm surprised there's less speculation than usual today. We spent a little time on the cast looking at December and it's not as light as people think. One thing i forgot was that Kinoshita Eclipse was released last year.

Well they can do a Naruse Eclipse this year then.

Wow, thank you! Those screen grabs do indeed look wonderful. I had no idea Synapse was working on a 4K restoration. For that kind of quality, I suppose I can be patient for a little longer. I hope they'll include plenty of supplements when they finally get around to releasing it on blu-ray. In the meantime, you made my day ... much obliged!

Every single one of those would be amazing. I think it is too early for Wenders because of the Janus tour.

I forgot about the clock in the New Year's clue. After Hours still makes sense..

Can anyone post photos of their collection organized by spine numbers, color, alphabetized, etc.? Just to see how it looks. Maybe get some ideas. Much appreciated if you post photos!
