The company is turning into a bunch of monsters. They delay their announcements AGAIN for the fourth month in row, and don't tell us. They're announcing nothing I guarantee it. And now they're over charging us for substandard products, like all businesses do nowadays.

But it's the second day. I thought they announced earlier the day after a delay.

Thank goodness. I now understand what the delay was all about. James Melkonian, the director of The Jerky Boys, was adamant about Criterion not offering Chapter Stops, insisting that the film be viewed in one seamless, uninterrupted sitting to preserve its artistic integrity. They must have finally capitulated.

In unrelated news, I emailed Mulvaney yesterday inquiring if Criterion gives out tours of their offices in NYC. I was expecting him to say no, and he did, but he did seem very appreciative about the interest. The main reason is they're too small of a production office to give tours. Maybe one day they will. We can only dream.

Funny. After I was at Criterion HQ and blogged about it, Mulvaney emailed me (unsolicited) asking me to not tell people how to get there for that very reason. Public tours will never happen although anyone can drop in.

What do you mean by anyone can drop in? I've peeked inside the building they're in and saw a security guard at a desk. I assume he'd stop me from trying to take the elevator up and just walking in haha.

Just tell them you're going to the 5th floor. The Criterion people will be nice to you. They are extremely cool, but they won't let you go very far .. That's why there wouldn't be office tours. They are too protective of their secrets.

Ah I gotcha. That's awesome. I may have to try that one day. And yea, I'm sure there's too many secrets being kept in there. Probably a master list of all upcoming releases

By the way, what I said above is exactly what "Mulvaney" asked me politely not to do. But I figure it'll get lost in the noise once/if releases are announced.

Kino Lorber just broke news that they'll be releasing a film that many here will be interested in. Check the news page.

I can care less when the announcements come, but news bits like this one actually do upstage Criterion on a day when everyone is waiting for them to announce their titles.
