B&N website hanging interminably at the checkout stage. Anyone else experience this in the past hour?

well, I'm pretty sure that question was addressed only to Criterionblues who said has the complete Criterion collection, but since others responded I may as well:

All that Heaven Allows
Room with a View
Il Sorpasso
The Thin Red Line
The Double Life of Veronique

+ 5 future Criterion Blurays of movies I want and haven't been released yet!

Picked up The Brood & Dressed to Kill since they didn't have the other movies I wanted. Hopefully by next week they'll get some more.

What's a good entry point into Cronenberg? I'm thinking of wading into those waters.

Or if he wants to use box sets, he could count each movie as one Bluray out of 10!

I generally stay away from any non-land traveling, but if I had to choose:

City Lights
Frances Ha
Jules and Jim
Persona
Picnic at Hanging Rock
(it comes with the book, too #loophole)
The Apu Trilogy
The Devil's Backbone
The Night of the Hunter
The Red Shoes
The Royal Tenenbaums

Videodrome or Scanners would be a good start. Not in the Criterion Collection but also The Fly. It's my favorite Cronenberg film.

That makes it tough. Some of my favorites in the Collection are in box sets.

Okay, I'll do individual titles:

Persona
On the Waterfront
Sweet Smell of Success
Seven Samurai
The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp
Rules of the Game
Pather Panchali
Aparajito
Apur Sansar
Red

And I would do everything in my power to sneak in:

Playtime

Also, I started the B&N sale today by picking up The Thin Blue Line and Mulholland Dr. (making sure to use my 2 snail mail coupons before they expired).

I ran into another avid Criterion collector while in the store. He jokingly said that he doesn't watch any of his Criterions, but only buys them. Ahh, somebody I could relate to. (Of course, I *do* watch them, but sometimes I go through them so slowly, that it feels like I don't).

I think my 10 desert island Criterions would be:

Nashville
8 1/2
Sweet Smell of Success
The 400 Blows
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Hoop Dreams
City Lights
Mulholland Drive
High and Low
Branded to Kill

If I had to take any film out of any box set, it would definitely be that awesome double feature of "Drive, He Said" and "A Safe Place" from the BBS set. I could watch "A Safe Place" on a constant loop.

I do live on an island (probably for the rest of my life) and have a Blu-ray player, tv, and a never ending (unless I stop paying them!) power source and my ten would be:

Beauty and the Beast
Amarcord
Badlands
Lord of the Flies
(just to remind me living on a island could be worse!)
My Life as a Dog (my pick-me-up film)
Red River
Summer With Monika
Tokyo Story
Walkabout

I watched Videodrome last week for the fourth or fifth time and it always impresses me with how weird, disturbing and smart it is. And it's themes and ideas are probably even more relevant today with the virtual world we live in than they were back in the early 80s when the movie was made.

I think it's Cronenberg's masterpiece.

...although I've never seen Scanners or The Brood.
